    Half-Life 2 on the Xbox 360

How's this for a blast from the past? At the currently ongoing X06 gaming event, Valve has been showing off Half-Life 2 running on the Xbox 360. IGN.com has the first look at the footage from the event. The video showcases a bit from the Airboat levels. I've no idea if there will be more footage shown at the event, or if the footage will be made available in a direct-feed hi-res capacity in the future.

On an unrelated note, Doom is on XBLMarketplace with 4player splitscreen and coop!

Why do console games always use massive amounts of bloom to hide the lower resolution textures?

But it did look like there were longer draw distances than I remembered, and those refinery towers I don't remember.

Bloom is used as a crutch for poor visuals now. Welcome to nextgen, motherfucker!

Reminds me of the first CS:S video on Aztec, guy keeps shooting after people die and moves like his keys are stuck. They should get pro players to create those launch videos, and then use them to leverage better PR. i.e. Fatal1ty vs. HL2.

The bloom really doesn't seem "excessive" at all. There's also no reason why they'd have to hide lo-res textures if this is being displayed on an Xbox 360.

However this is true that they use motion blur and blooms to hide things. Motion blur for FPS issues, and blooms for textures and other things.

I really hope valve updates the PC version of hl2 i don't think its fair that the console gets the upgrade and the PC stays the same. =/

It really would be nice if VALVe updated the visuals and technology of HL2, but I doubt they will since Half-Life [Source] is still partying like it's 1998.
