Interesting. I just assumed they would be making static changes to the prices; a one-time deal. This dynamic price idea is very intriguing, but I doubt that it will change things all that much. Price for AK and M4 will probably go up for a couple weeks, then drop back down once players can't afford them as often anymore. I expect to see an ebb and flow of prices for all weapons, I hope they graph it on SteamPowered.com at some point. With all the AWP-whores out there though (and I have been one) this might put a damper on sniping. I'll be sad when the Scout is no loger so cheap though. I hope the pump shotty doesn't climb too much. And I'll bet the Glock and 5.7 drop to about 5 bucks before long ;P
EDIT: Oh yeah, this absolutely ruins tactics for competetive play. I don't care myself since I hardly play anymore, but having to alter strats each week based on the new pricing is gonna be giving a lot of clans headaches soon.

Guest repliedThat doesn't make sense... if the price increases by the percentage of dollars which are spent on it, then the prices would always go up. Probably less than 1% of the dollars are spent on the dualies, but the price is still going to go up because thats greater than zero.
But then, they say that they sort the list and the top half go up, and the bottom half go down. This is contradictory, because then they can't use the percentage directly. They are probably going to have to use some algorithm where the price is modified for weapon X by:
{
Percentage of money spent on X
MINUS
Median percentage of money spent
}
By this logic, if 10% of the people buy M4's, and 1% of the people buy elites, then the M4 would go up by about 5%, and the elites DOWN by about 4%.
So the prices won't change as much as they seem to suggest. Fix your news posts, csnation and valve.Leave a comment:
