New Episode 2 Trailer from IGN

Somehow, we don't want to know how, IGN got their hands on brand new footage for Episode 2. It is the trailer labeled "Episode Two Trailer (August 24, 2006)."

There are a number of SPOILERS in the trailer. Consider yourself sufficiently warned.

    No way...

    Dog vs Strider?! WHOO!

And at the end with the rocket? I guess we have a good idea where Episode 3 is headed!

I doubt it Zips..I've been reading over posts at HL2.net, and a lot of them disagree as well...

I feel bad for the developers of crysis. They made such a nice engine, they worked hard for so many years, and a relatively small valve project will blow their sales away in two weeks

this looks even more promising than HL2.

Doubt the... last part? Eh, never know. But it's always fun (and required as a fan of Half-Life) to assume as much as possible on as few details as possible.

But how is this for a spoiler !!!

Crysis utilises a DirectX 10 engine. (says it all)

Videos looking real good, I must say :)

              Zing!

Knowing how much Source is updated though, I wouldn't put it past Valve to have some DX10 plans already well in the works. Maybe Episode 3, or maybe in an update later for past game support. You know it'll come eventually, one day.

While DirectX 10 is exciting from my perspective as a programmer, I don't think that it is truly relevant until, you know, DirectX 10 is downloadable or graphics cards are released with DirectX 10 support or an operating system that supports DirectX 10 is available.

Yeah, It'd be kinda crass (sp?) of me to admit that Valve wouldn't utilise this technology, I just think that they might save it for their next gen game(s). Given the relatively long time that it will take for people to actually purchase a rig that can handle that sorta stuff.

Ehh, I already have a build in mind that should be done within a month or two once ATI gets their DX10 offering out. Nvidia is slated to have their first DX10 card before that even. So it's entirely possible to have a Vista ready/DX10 ready system before the year's end... Before Vista is publically released.

I think the humans are going around all the old abandoned nuclear missle sites that the combine missed, and are going to try and use them. Or they will fire them at the relay satellite in space that allows the combine to conduct the portal storms.. That would cut them off for good. Also, the music in that trailer owned, and the part where the combine forces were going over the bridge, someone says "It is hopeless" but I cant figure out who.

Although I'm definitely going to get Episode Two (TF2, come on!), I don't think you guys are giving Crysis enough credit.

Surely I can't have been the only one absolutely wowed by the big alien on the aircraft carrier fight in the trailer? The smoke, the lights, the win. Hopefully it won't be the jungle bore/snipe fest and corridor bore/alien fest of Far Cry.

I have a build planned as well. It isn't exactly planned down to the components, because they could very well change drastically in the upcoming months :P

But I do know that since they're trying to put DDR2 support into AMD motherboards, that I plan on getting high quality DDR2 memory sticks (2+ gigs), a dual core (Who knows what AMD plans on releasing for new ones though!), and a DX10 video card..I've very well become a big fan of AMD processors now :)

the more ram the better but dont get stupidly expensive ram with very low timing, the timings makes hardly any difference, better off spending the money on getting a better gfx card

Definitely :) My current machine was sort of a budget machine instead of performance, but it's still got decent performance (AMD A64 3500+ OC 10%..Yeah, not much, I know..1 gig ram, 7800gtx, and an 80gb hdd)

However, by the time vista comes out, I hope to have enough money to go for a more performance machine..Find the highest quality parts at the lowest possible price. Like you said, why pay $80 extra for 1ms less latency? That's sort of what I'm going for...Frugal Performance :P
