    The Ship Releases

The unique title developed by Outerlight, The Ship, has just been released via Steam. Though the $15 pre-purchase phase is now up, the game is still only $20 for the multiplayer and arcade style single-player. There will be an add-on single-player story mode coming later in the year for $10 via Steam. At this time a full package will be released into the retail market. The retail package will feature both the single-player and multi-player components and is slated to cost more than the Steam deals combined.
The Ship, a massively mysterious thriller (MMT) from Outerlight Ltd, is available now via Steam, Valve's electronic distribution platform. Set onboard a 1920's luxury liner, Mr X, the Ship's owner has "invited" you to a mysterious multiplayer game of hunt and hunted, as players must secretly track and extinguish specified passengers while avoiding similar fate. The ship is available for just $19.95. Click here for more details.
Outerlight has also hinted at a demo of sorts in the future. There is also a promised trailer for the game to be released in the upcoming days.[break="pictures"]

Well looks like The Ship's website is being hit like crazy now; I can't even get to the forums. But I'll take that as good news because that means there will be lots of people to murder after I get off work today.

The original didn't had too much people playing on it. But the concept was there. Hopefully it'll take off this time around.

Just got done playing the single-player arcade mode for a bit. A great bit of fun. The AI needs some work (random sprinting and walking into things) but was otherwise good.

In one round (against bots) the guy hunting me knew I was following him so he ducked around a corner and waited with his weapon drawn for me to round the corner. I avoided his attack and managed to get safely away.

I could of sworn this was a CS news site. Well it was a few years back. Anyway, I take it posts such as this these days are down to the lack of CS news. But still, this is a 'CS' news site, not Steam or Half-Life 2 in general.

I'm a little pissed off that Valve is buying out every single decent mod that comes out (because we all know there are so little decent mods out for Half-Life 2).

They'll tell you to turn off Steam and Half-Life 2 in your news preferences.

I'm sure once there actually is CS news, they'll post it.

Yeah guys... if you see any CS news out there, we do have a news submission feature. Fact is, there isn't too much going on with CS news anywhere. We post about the WSVG over the weekend, but other than that there isn't much right now.

Wait til Valve announces something and we'll post it.

Also, Valve isn't buying up any mod team. The mod teams are more than likely coming to Valve because they are ready to present their stand-alone games for distribution via Steam. As in, The Ship does not require HL2 to be played at all. Outerlight has the rights to use the Source engine in the games because they purchased the license. Distributing it via Steam and wanting to make a profit isn't a bad idea when the game isn't a mod.

valve didnt buy the ship, its just distributed using steam,

                          Steam is a distribution network

not all games on steam are owned by Valve

Screenshots are up. Just some shots from a bot disabled, single player thing to show off some areas of a couple of the ships.
