    Episode 1 Updated

A small update was released for Half-Life 2: Episode 1 earlier today. The update mainly focuses on tweaking the difficulty based on the anonymous data gathered.
Updates to Half-Life 2: Episode One have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. Based on the statistics gathered from people playing through Episode One, we're making a small balance change to the elevator battle before you head back up to City 17. The specific changes are as follows:
      Half-Life 2: Episode One

    • Added some more health for players to pick up

    • Added more cinderblocks and barrels for physics ammunition

    • Added some extra shotgun shells at start of the fight

    • Slightly reduced the number of zombies attacking the player
The update will be applied next time you restart your Steam client or attempt to run Episode 1.

In slightly related news, Steam is now offering up two "new" third party games for purchase. The games are Disciples II: Gold Edition and Jagged Alliance 2.

I only had difficulty with one part of Half-Life 2: Episode One. The part I'm referring to is when you are in the three story parking garage with the ant lions.

Yeah, that was a bit troubling at first because I didn't realize there were cars to plug up every hole. I thought Alyx may have kept them off my back while I opened the gate since it was on the top floor, but I guess not.

Also, sort of sad they killed off some of the Zombies in the elevator area. That was a great deal of intense fun there. Got past it the first time in both of my play throughs.

You don't quiet remember? How can you forget about one of the most intense parts of the whole Episode??

You are in some sort of warehouse setting, waiting for an elevator to come down, then all of a sudden power goes out and so do all the lights because of that, you have to fix it, and fight of a lot of zombies in the dark, waiting for the elevator to come down..

I didn't die there, but I guess the stats showed that it was a bit to hard for most people.. I must admit I only just survived it..

I hated that level because you ran out of light and ammo quickly and you were left to get attacked by zombies in the dark.

The elevator part sure was intense. So many of them just kept coming...

I didn't die in that section, though only on normal difficulty, nor did I die in the Antlion section some of you mentioned. My dumb ass always seems to cop it when I do things like grab explosive barrels with the gravity gun when they're on fire, in a relatively easy section.

Haha, no kidding. I hate the scary parts in the Half-Life games, because I hate horror games/movies. They're weird because they're in the middle of an otherwise normal action game. That scene was pretty cool though (the coolest was probably fighting the strider at the end...I never thought I'd be saying that fighting a strider was fun).

The part that I got stuck on was it took me like 5 minutes to realize I could plug up the ant lion hole with the car. I just kept trying to turn the wheel and then turn and shotgun an antlion.

I have Episode 1, but I still haven't gotten through it yet. To be honest, the game is a bit tedious.

elevator fight was intense indeed, first time through i survived with my health in the red. i was still fighting the zombies off for a good few minutes after the elevator came but i was so caught up in fending them off i didnt even realize it had arrived! as the elevator lifted off one last burning barrel on the ground almost finished me off so yea, probably one of the most intense/fun fights in the game.

second time through with commentary i had a hard time listening to it over all the action.
