    Pre-Order The Ship

Pre-orders for The Ship have just started up tonight. Pre-order discounts place the game at roughly $15 while the post-release price will be $20.
The Ship is a unique multiplayer game set on a luxury 1920's replica cruise ship built by Mr X. Once you're on board you're given the name of another passenger whom you must find and secretly murder - kill or be killed.

Watch your back because somewhere out there someone has your name, too.
The game brings a unique look to the Source engine. The Ship is slated for a July 2006 release.

This game sounds a lot like a college campus game where people form teams and are supposed to secretly get the person's name they chose without getting caught. Usually involving squirt guns.

This one certainly seems quite interesting.

I know someone who is participating in the beta and he loves it. All I ever hear from him is how cool it is and how fun it is.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing as well. I'm pretty sure I'll end up pre-ordering this one at some point.

I played the original mod for HL1 and it was tons of fun. Too bad there aren't many servers out for it.

Nah, this is not for me. I had the mod ages ago, and it was actually quite fun. But I really don't think I'd invest enough time in it to warrant the $20 asking price, I mean, the gameplay all hinged upon the concept, and it can't have improved that much from the original mod.

I think it pales in comparison to the quality of Sin and HL Episodes, which are available for the same price.

                Game Guide

So I'm going through the guide and it's like... Hitman meets Time Splitters meets The Sims meets a college game (as I mentioned above). I'm sold.

seems interesting. but $20-25 is a bit expensive.

If you ever played the hl1 mod, its pretty much that core game with a bunch of new crap thrown in.

The hl1 mod friggin rocked my socks btw, this looks like its gonna blow it out of the water. I'm also glad to see the source engine really helped bring out the "cartoony" look theyve been going for.

                    Should be fun.

Guys, when you click on preorder it says that the discount ends up being 14.95 plus tax-- it is not $20, that will be the game's price when it is released.

Yeah, I only spotted that the preorder discount was 25% after my original comment, so it might be worth a punt. But if I saw this in a shop for that price, I still wouldn't buy it. I'm not just going to buy a game just because it's on Steam (which many actually do). And I just don't think it'll gather enough community to take off.

You're right. I read that wrong on the storefront page. Thanks.

You can still download the old version of it for Steam and try it out. I downloaded it and installed it but haven't played it yet. It looks cool though so I guess I should.
