Anyone who finds a "hacker" more than once or twice a month just doesn't know a fuck about spotting cheaters.
I used to hack. I used to hack for over 9-10 months. When I was hacking I played on over a hundred servers, and I easily played over a thousand hours on public servers. Do you know how many times I was banned by an admin? I think maybe 2 servers, in TOTAL.

I bet you've never hacked, so you can't tell what any decent hacks look like. When I talk about decent hacks, I'm not talking about mygot style speed 8x aimbot knifing. I'm talking about what those deep in the cheating comunity call "helper hacks", which are nearly undetectable by even the good admins. ESP hacks, "helping" aimbot, which pulls your cursor ever so slightly over a terrorist's upper chest(only when you press mouse1(or mouse2,3,4 you get the drift)), flashremover, smoke remover, the list goes on and on. Unless you've hacked for a long time, and know exactly what you are talking about stfu and don't act the fool.

If I knew an admin was in the server I usually tried to hold back some so I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of finding a new server :\
You have no idea how powerful I am. I can kill people that come up train ladders. I'm that good.

        Now that's just cheating.

I get suspicious of people when they manage to headshot me while they are the ones on the ladder. I spec them a few rounds, only to realize it was another Source engine-related oddity.

Well the number of cheaters you see in 1.6 servers should be coming way down.

Thank you and QFT - This is what the new CPL developed anti-cheat is hopefully going to catch. There is such a private cheating community out there that most people will never know about. It is like fight club, no one talks about it.

I don't see a lot of hackers, but then I mostly play on my favorite servers.

When I do look for a public server, I always check for VAC secured, mostly because there are fewer cheaters.

I've seen a *few* of the blatant hacks that go beyond wallhacks, but nothing like the old days. I've seen the admins threaten the VAC permban before banning, too.

The wallhackers still pop up occassionally even on my favorites, which tend to have at least 3-4 admins on all the time, but they're weeded out, and this is not surprising because driver level wallhacks are hard to completely block.

As someone else pointed out these can never be completely blocked and you have to rely on admins at some point. That and you want secure server to have a way to collectively ban a steamid at least to provide a disincentive for cheating.

Do you think that CAL (or anyone else) can somehow completely suppress wallhacking in public servers? I doubt it, but they can make it harder for people to cheat on monitored CAL / CPL matches.

Amen duhhh. It takes balls to say you have cheated before but I have no shame in saying I cheated my ass off during the 1.1-1.3 days with OGC. Yeah, you are right, real cheaters never go out blatantly with their aimbot sensitivity set to 360 degrees or shooting people through walls. Wanna know what real cheaters (that pub star that kills you all the time, the all star MVP clan member mopping the floor with his awp) do? They set their aimbot sensitivity to below 30 degrees and bind their aimbot to mouse2,3,4 etc so that when they see you all they have to do is point in your general direction and the aimbot does the rest.

Wanna know how to catch these fucks? Spectate them in first person and watch when they use single shot wonder weapons like shotties, knives, awps and deagles. They'll pull off a couple legit aimed shots then they click their aimbot bind when they're getting hurt and you'll see the crosshair make a VERY SMALL subtle jerk towards whatever vectors they set their bot for (chest, head, legs etc). Then it will jerk again as they let go of the bind. The amount of clan members that I've seen with low sense binded bots using it to "help" their awping is just pathetic. Yeah, good awpers will "jerk" their crosshair to a target but it will be a smooth motion, not a smooth motion plus the crosshair instantly locking onto a specific part of the targets body when it's in range.

Another one that I see alot is spray and prayers who do 5-6 shot bursts and then lock on for a quick second to get that "luck" headshot. Yeah right, I perfected that a long time ago. There's actually bots out now that allows you to get "luck" shots also. ie, someone could be behind you and you'll shoot at the wall and your shots magically register on whoever is behind you. This can even be edited so it's not so extreme and blatant.

It's very hard to spot unless you've cheated yourself. Alot of cats run around accusing pub stars or clan members of cheating but they don't know what cheating is. What's even worse is the people like me that know WHO is cheating yet I can't say shit cause no one will believe me. People have learned to accept this crap. It's so sad cause I see atleast 3-4 people per server on source like this. Especially clan members, you'd be surprised at how many of them think they're slick with their aimbot binds.

EDIT: there's also settings that allows your aimbot to "smooth aim" so the crosshair jerk isn't so noticeable but this shit doesn't fool me. I can very clearly see the rough transition from human aiming to computer assisted aiming no matter how smooth the aimbot is.

Here's a good wikipedia link for more info on CS cheating (nothing bad):

Plenty of facts for everyone to read about cheating in counter-strike. If you still don't buy it then whatever. Just another pigeon that thinks this is Church-Strike and no one is bad enough to cheat.

You know what's funny, CS is over 7 years old now, and ever since a couple of months within it's existance there have been issues with cheats, many many anti-cheating programs have tried to stop it incl Valve's own VAC, but nothing ever changed in all those 7 years (this topic proved that very clearly).. And this CPl anti-cheat thingy won't change things a bit aswell..

And I know from experience many people call you a cheat if you are a lot better then them, I've been called a cheat multiple times over the years when I've never touched a cheat in my life.. CS is just full of cheat paranoia people, that will never change, even if the game becomes 100% cheat-free some will still see cheaters.. I'm not saying there are no cheats in CS, but I'm sure 90+% is paranoia..

Only solution is to see online just as fun/practise, and only take LAN-tournaments as serious competition..

We just got our week one CAL-o match overturned because a guy on the other team was (finally) caught hacking, putting us in the number one spot in pacific.

and you fuckers finally unbanned me from CSN. geeze.
