Steam News Update - June 8

Huh, I'm rather missing these updates coming on Friday. It was like a failsafe for a slow news weekend around these parts. Ah well, without further ado here comes the latest Steam news update for the week!
It's been one week since we officially launched Half-Life 2: Episode One. So far the critical response has been great. The feedback we value most highly, though, is the kind we get from players. Between email, bug reports, forum posts, and wiki contributions, we've already gotten a good idea of which elements of the game worked best, and how to make Episode Two even better.

The folks running the Verizon FiOS Grand Tournament have opened the official practice sessions for their $100,000 Half-Life 2: Deathmatch tournament, which begins June 15th. There's still time to sign-up, and the tournament is open to players of all skill levels residing in the United States. For more info head on over to fiosgrand.com.
The high praise for Episode 1 certainly isn't surprising. Hopefully that upcoming FiOS Grand Tournament prompts some more updates for HL2: Deathmatch, but you never know!

There was also a new update released tonight for Episode 1. Just a fix for closed captioning and stat reporting.

This update also broke (and then fixed) nearly every game in my list, lol. It started acting like all I owned was CZ and DoD and one or two others, calling the rest "preloaded" and prompting me at the store when I tried to load up vanilla CS. Glad a Steam restart and the ensuing update fixed that crap!

this wasnt really an update in my eyes. Just a news post by Valve praising themselves and giving themselves a pat on the back for a successfuly major release via Steam ... Which they deserve

I actually have the same problem but it occurs randomly.
