    Shacknews On Episode 1

Not one to be left out, Shacknews posted their own article on Valve's recently released Episode 1. Combining the elements of personal thoughts and information obtained directly from Gabe Newell and Robin Walker, the article. provides two full pages of good reading.
For the record, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell emphasized that Valve hopes players know what data is being collected and why. [...] Gameplay data is used internally to refine gameplay in future releases. Newell hopes that such refinement can be taken to even greater levels in the future. He proposed the idea of a multiplayer game that could, for example, balance weapon prices in real time based on the in-game equipment purchasing and usage habits of players.
I don't mind that my gameplay information is sent to Valve if it makes for better games in the future. It seems like a good tool that more developers should use to tweak their games. There are many more interesting words and paragraphs in the article that you should check out.

i don't mind either, except its abit complicated isn't it?

i mean, video games, mario, jumped up and down, simple.

using carefully collected information about how exactly people play to enhance a game, sounds stupid, but i'll gladly be proved wrong.

Well, you have to admit it's a lot better than other companies that don't pay any attention to customer feedback at all.
