Three major forces are combining their efforts to give Half-Life 2: Deathmatch a little tournament lovin'. Verizon FiOS, Valve, and the Cyberathlete Amateur League are working together to bring fans this $100,000 grand prize tournament to the masses. Verizon will hope to showcase the benefits of their new "Fiber-to-the-Premises" network and their Game Link Network PlayLinc client through this tournament.
What's that? $100,000 as a grand prize? You heard right! In addition to the aforementioned grand prize, registered contestants will receive a key to activate HL2: Deathmatch and the Lost Coast to play during the period of tournament play.
This tournament will run from June 15 to July 29, with the finals running from July 28 - July 29. The scoring system will be based off of a kills per time period system. Interested parties can sign up at the Verizon FiOS Grand Tournament website, effective immediately.
