Friday Friday Friday - Steam News Update

Ok, so technically it's Satuday where I am, but I'm counting this as the Friday Steam news update. Rejoice, as your news is here!
Right now, we're in the midst of those very busy days we alluded to a few weeks ago. The preload for Episode One started Monday. The team is working day and night, putting the finishing touches on our first Episodic release. And we'll be adding more content to what is being preloaded next week to insure that everyone has everything they need to play come June 1st.

You also may have noticed there is a new tab in Steam, named My Media. It currently includes a number of movies from both Valve and third parties, and we'll be building more into that area over time.

Next week there will be two new games made available for play. The first is Shadowgrounds, which is currently offered with a 20% discount if you pre-purchase the game before it launches on Monday. Then on Wednesday, the first Sin Episode will be unlocked and ready for play.
You can scope out the items offered on the Media tab by looking below.

There seems to be quite a large selection to choose from there. The built in media player (assuming that's what this uses) can actually play a variety of media formats. Hey, isn't that the Zombie movie they mentioned some time ago? Glad to see it ready for public consumption (no pun intended).

    They load like bink videos.

So Sin comes out on the 10th and Rise of Legends comes out on the 9th? Hot diggity.

I hope Rise of Legends plays better than the demo, I get really bad fps towards the end combat when I had the settings on high (keep in mind I'm not a person who jacks resolution, aa, and texture filtering way up, I play at 1024 because I like the high refresh rate). They said that the demo was really unoptimized and I believe it. Either way, I can't wait.

Ah, I thought they would have put into play their Steam Media Player. I'm downloading the Zombie movie now (yay for no bandwidth restrictions).

Ah, looks like they DO use the Steam Media Player for this. Clicking once while a movie is playing in full screen shows a windowed version.

Zombie Movie was amazing (especially since I'm a fan of Shaun of the Dead)
