Steam News Update - Episode 1 Preload

This weekend's Steam news update brings you a heaping helping of various news items! Would you expect anything less? Of course not.

The news update talks a bit about the upcoming Half-Life 2: Episode 1 preload, the continued SiN Episodes preload, and those cute plush headcrabs.
Congratulations to Ritual! SiN Episode 1: Emergence has officially gone GOLD. The game is now available for preloading on Steam. The full game will be unlocked on May 10th at 10am Pacific Daylight Time (17:00 GMT).

Half-Life 2: Episode One will begin preloding next week, and will be available to play June 1st. With Episode One, we really feel like we've produced our best single player game to date, and we're excited for people to be able to play it.

Meanwhile, the Red Orchestra team continues to turn out updates, the latest of which is the beta SDK for their game. If you own RO and would like to try it out, click on the "Tools" tab inside Steam.

Plush headcrabs are here! Visit the Valve store to get one of your very own. Also new in the store is the Combine Soldier lithograph (the second in our series) and a Dog vs. Strider poster.
There you have it. No witty topic title here, but I'm sure they'll be returning soon enough.

Why is it called Episode One damnit? If they are now following an episodic release schedule woudln't half life 2 be technically the first episode of the series? god!

I wish Episode One was like 9 dollars or so, paying 20 dollars for like 2 hours of gameplay isn't very fun concidering most teenagers make only 6-7 dollars per hour...

Be great if they had some news about CS like source tv or when they are going to be fixing more bugs and make CSS take over what ever 1.6 still has going for it.

As if the reason CS 1.6 players aren't switching to CS:S is as a result of bugs...

                    It's all about the gameplay.

What amazes me is that so many people still play CS1.6 when there is at least one speed or wall hacker on every other server, as a result of anti-cheat being so poor for the game.

Now if CS:S had that many hackers...

You should read more of the news here on CSN - It was announced that SourceTV is recieving a major upgrade very soon and will be fixed (finally)

Alot of the bugs in Source being fixed would change the gameplay for the better.

cs 1.6 will still be on top for another 3 years easily. source will not take over even if them bugs are fixed.

there are hackers for cs and css. if you there's a hacker just leave and join another server. there are over 30-100k servers out there (# varies depending on time)

Like I'm going to go around connecting to 30 thousand servers, only to find a hacker at each one?

DevgruSeal H.E is right. It is like valve doesn't even care about banning hackers, or fixing bugs any more.
