I recall watching the news afterward and seeing some countries in which people were definitely flocking to the streets, but not in sympathy or support, but in celebration. Additionally, using Tehran as an example seems rather out of place. You're talking about a country that threatens to wipe another ally of the USA off the map, presumably with nuclear weapons... and you're trying to convince other readers that the USA has turned Iran from being a supporter to an enemy in a mere 5 years? Iran does not have any love lost for the USA, and hasn't for as long as any of us reading this can remember.
I just wanted to correct some misconceptions which may have come across here. The Tehran statement was from a relatively recent documentary called "Why we Fight", yes it's totally partisan and would probably have some calling it Un-American, whereas it's anything but.

And I was talking about the people of Tehran, there was a public showing of solidarity there after September 11th, people parading down streets in support. I am not suggesting, that the Ayatollahs at any point decided to give George Bush a hug, I'm sure the Iranian administration had differing views on the entire situation. But the point made, was "do you think America still has this level of support from the man in the street?".

I would hope not, since the US backed a coup in Iran in 1953, and helped prop up one of the most brutal dictators in the region.

The question is, do you honestly think America EVER has that support outside of the same kneejerk "patriotism" Americans lined up in the streets for?

It's the same tired bullshit. It has nothing to do with 9/11, and has everything to do with some little fuckwit like you using it as an excuse to go on about America, like we should all be sorry or even give a fuck if some other shithole country doesn't like what their worthless media tell them we're like. It has to do with people like you laughably trying to wag your finger at all of us, collectively, in some perverse attempt at indirect faux-patriotism towards your own hole in the ground born out of a sad "little man" complex.

Un-fucking-believable. An entire goddamn region of fucking nutjobs that go apeshit over a Danish comic strip, an entire world of major countries that are just as fucked up as America -IF NOT MORESO-, and yet America is the perennial punching bag.

The only fucking clown in here is you mouth. I made a point of clarification in regards to NightHawk's post and I get this crock in return? I've not made stupid finger wagging accusations at America, maybe if you stopped taking every comment made as "OMG Anti-American commies!"

Indirect faux-patriotism? Oh that's a great new phrase you've just invented, way to sweep aside all criticism. Criticising America is just the new way to be patriotic is it? It's no longer cool enough to support your own country, you have to actively dismiss America?

Global animosity towards America has probably never been higher. Your president has his popularity figures sat in the doldrums. Criticism's not just coming from overseas you know, maybe you could instigate a new McCarthy-esque purge, that'd sort out the unpatriotics in your country wouldn't it.

I've not been slinging shit at America. But the view of America in the world has taken a downturn in the last few years, you can ignore that if you want. But please make your replies coherent.

Evidently. If it weren't, i wouldn't be sick of 5 years' worth of pissant foreigners taking potshots from the safe bounds of their own impotent dungheap, like all this means to them is some world-wide soccer team pissing match.

Do we have the respect of the average man in Tehran. Are you fucking kidding me, dipshit? Answer that. Does your country have it? Does it fucking matter one way or the other outside of some irritating faggot trying to make a weak, arbitrary point?

5 years, isn't that a coincidence. Way to prove the piss weak point I was supposedly making.
