I was over at the local Burgercraft joint ordering a "Zerg Rush All-You-Can-Eat Special" and discussing gaming news with the guy behind the counter, and according to his insider connections, Valve is slated to release an update today. What's on the list of things to be fixed?
For starters, apparently all CS:S bugs will be fixed by this release. In a surprising move, however, CS1.6 will be upgraded to CS1.6PE for "Pro Edition." Sources claim notable changes include removal of the jumping delay, reduced recoil, re-adding crosshairs to the AWP, and faster quick-switching. No official word yet from the CPL whether this will be used for upcoming competitions.
Not everything will be specific to Counter-Strike however. This quote, claimed to be from Valve's Doug Lombardi, talks about other major upgrades that they hope to roll out today:

The cheating community is in for a big surprise today, thanks to our new technology. We noticed that VAC is still only on version 2, while the cheats it tries to defeat often have version numbers in the teens or early twenties. Obviously this was the main cause of its ineffectiveness, so we've decided to launch VAC Eleventy-Billion, the definitive solution to all cheats for decades, if not centuries to come.Combined with the much-anticipated Ricochet: Source rollout, hopefully all these releases don't interfere with today's scheduled release of Team Fortress 2, along with the soon-coming release of Zombie Movie. Looks to be a very content-packed beginning to the month!
