Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 is Dated

Seeing as how Counter-Strike news is a little slow in coming today, I bring you news of the release date for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45! The game will be made publically available on March 14th at 11AM Pacific.
Well - most of you have waited patiently... some have waited impatiently But here it is - the formal announcement of the release date. Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 will be available for download (sic) via Steam from 11am Pacific time (2pm Eastern, 7pm GMT, 8pm Central European) on Tuesday 14th March.

We'll be seeing you on the battlefields of the Ostfront next Tuesday!
The preloading and prepurchasing phases of the game have been well underway for the past couple of weeks now through Steam. The closed, public BETA of the game has been underway for the past few days now, and I must say it's been one amazing experience.

Extremely realistic, no crosshairs, dismemberment, actual teamwork needed, great environments... the list could easily go on.

zips. I heard if you get run over by a tank your body explodes into body parts and blood.

            please tell me its true.

I'm not sure about that, but I know that the tank shells can easily blow limbs off your body if you're hit by them (arms, legs, head, etc). Same can be said about the grenades and arty shells. A direct hit with an arty shell will sometimes completely destroy your body.

Sometimes no limbs are lost but your body certainly reflects being riddled with shrapnel. Bullets sometimes leave blood splatters on the wall behind you if you're close enough to it.

Zips, how would you compare this with the mod version?

They really need to get a demo out, or even better a free weekend (although I hear that the 2gig download is probably too cumbersome for that). Because no matter how good some people say it is, many, myself included think that the no holds barred realism (lack of crosshairs etc) is going to compromise its playability.

the gore and stuff sounds cool...

And although I used to think the realism was something I wanted in games, iron sights, etc... honestly, having played a few games with it... I think I would rather have crosshairs.

Sometimes realism needs to take a backseat to what is more fun.

But I'd like to play a demo or something.

I did play the UT mod version of this. It was... meh...

How is this an improvement over the mod version?

I've not seen anything that has convinced me to fork over $20.

I'll say it's been "dated". The damn title's got '41-'45 in it. Hopefully the graphics aren't dated, though.

I, for one isn't much of a realism freak. I used to love it, but after playing America's Army, I was pissed off about gaming realism. But that's just me and I have a few exceptions for WWII games.
