    Friday Steam Update Time!

As if like clockwork, the wonderful people over at Steam decided to feed us yet another Friday update!
The Empires team is set to release the first version of its Source MOD this weekend, and have put out a giant trailer ahead of the game's launch that you may get off of their site. If playing a game that is a cross between a real-time strategy game and a first person shooter is something you'd be interested in checking out, keep an eye on the Empires site this weekend.

Meanwhile, the next installment of the popular single player mod Minerva was released today. You may download it over at the official site.

We hope people are having fun playing around with the two new Counter-Strike: Source models we released on Wednesday. There is more Counter-Strike: Source content on the way, which we'll be talking about in the next few weeks.
Restart your steam clients to view the update and as usual you can view it here!

I like how Valve gives attention to mods like HL2:CTF, which is crap in my opinion, but wont give our mod, SourceForts, the time of day at all. We've had playable versions out since Feb. 24 of last year, and we've still recieved no publicity.

But one of our testers for SF tests Empires as well, and he says it's good. It does look cool, if not kinda sluggish.

It reminds me of Age of Empires in a way...

I am waiting for the RTS game that lets you:

      build your city

      build your army

Then take on a first person view of one of your soldiers and start fighting

That would be awesome, so I will probably try Empires.

Try shooting some of the Valve crew an email. Maybe that's all it takes.

So I've heard a lot of good things about that Minerva mod. I never played the first installment of it, but I downloaded it earlier tonight.

The latest download includes both chapters, so I'm expecting good things.

entRo, maybe Valve just doesn't like SourceForts? What happened with HL2CTF btw? Was their "death" just a little promotional thing to whip up interest for their mod? Pretty lame if it was.

The premise for empires sounds kind of cool, like a battlefield-esque kind of mod. But looking at their screenshots, I still feels it needs lot of work before a preliminery release, for one, there's literally zero terrain. It's all flat, with areas of high ground totally blocked off.

More CS:S content? If they're only going to start talking about it in the next few weeks, I take it we won't see it for at least another month or two.

i think sourceforts is one of the best mods down from garry's mod, HL2CTF was just laggy old HL2DM with flags.

this mod looks good though, and the promise of 'new CSS content' really gets my bone goin'

Oh come on, give us some more credit than that! We've emailed Valve several times, and members of the community have taken it upon themselves to email them as well.

I'm gonna go with the "there's a conspiracy to ignore SF that reaches the top of Valve and the US government" route.

entRo: don't feel bad. Valve totally ignores me as well... I don't really get them...

Yes, those at VALVe I've emailed typically ignore my infrequent emails as well. So it goes.

Maybe the guys at VALVe who've played it got griefed enough times playing SF that they were too sick of it to recommend it to others. SF is a great idea, but outside of a LAN environment, it's often an excercise in frustration, as one person can destroy an entire match.

That said, I had a 3-4 week addiction to it a couple of months back before I finally gave it up for other things. Fun mod when everone cooperates.

We'll have a new version out soon with added tools to stop griefers.
