VIP Mod in Final Testing Phases

The community made VIP mod for CS: Source, has entered its final stages of testing! Before the mod finds a final release in the hands of the masses, the Punk Ass Fraggers have set up a public server to give the rest of the community a chance to test the mod in its current state.
After months and months of testing and updates the VIP Mod (open) for Counter-Strike is getting ready for release!

We now have 9 FINISHED VIP Mod Maps (open) (and an additional 3 more being made) and V 1.0 of the VIP Mod plugin. This week we are running it all through the final motions before we release VIP Mod V 1.0 to the public.

We would like to invite you to come play the mod, and all 9 maps on the PAF Server #3 (open) located at paf3.nuclearfallout.net:27015 and see what this mod is all about.

If all goes well this week, we intend to release VIP Mod to the public sometime between the 12th and 18th of this month.
Having played some of the earlier versions of this mod, it was already a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience. Best of luck to the PAF crew and L. Duke on the upcoming successful release of this mod!

Is this a standalone mod or is it server-side? I mean can i connect to vip servers with normal css or will i have to launch it separate?

It's server side, clients need nothing iirc.

the mod it's self is serverside but it works only with VIP Mod Maps (as_maps) so all clients will need to either install the mod via the release package via Vapour or wait and download the maps in game. The mod will release with an initial 9 maps, a new console screen, the VIP Model, custom sounds, helicopter models etc. It is recommended that you install Vapour (www.vapour-online.com) so you can get the mod in it's intirety and always receive automatic updates when they are released.

The mod works as a part of CSS. Nothing separate will need to be launched. If you have the maps simply join a CSS server runing VIP Mod and enjoy.

This is great news! I wish they hadn't scrapped the as_ scenario in the first place.

all the public testing this week has made us aware of a few bugs we neverencountered before. This has been a great week so far for catching and fixing little issues before the release next week.\

Also, it was announced this week that VIP Mod mapper Kevin Hilton (as_crisis) has started work on a new as_map for the mod. He is doing a full on remake of as_riverside for a future release!

There is one early screenshot on the site now. Go check it out.

We also announced this week that Denzil, the head of the "Black Mesa Source" mod is creating a map for VIP Mod. He will be remaking as_tundra with help from 3D-Mike. This is also very exciting news.

If 3D-Mike is still around, why isn't he making de_survivor for CS:S? :P

Anyway, cool stuff, I'm stoked about the upcoming release. :)

3D-Mike is most definately still around. PAF actually sponsors the official 3D-Mike web site at www.3d-mike.com

He has publically stated that he won't be remaking any of his maps for the Source engine. Even though I've begged and pleded, he still won't. Even though some of his maps are my ALL TIME FAVORITES he still won't. But, he's not done mapping, not by a long shot and once as_recon is released, I'm quite sure people will be buzzing about Mike just like they did when he released so many classics for CS.
