i don't care if they make us their testing department, but I at least want them to not screw up anything existing, i can't even join servers fron in game...

I was really disappointed that all my old friends are gone from the list... hopefully all of that information hasn't been wiped off of their computers, as I'll lose a lot of contacts from the past that were fun people to play with. :-\
Still, I'm definitely glad to see Friends finally seeing the light of day!
Now where's my damn Zombie movie?!?

Oh well... I can only hope that in the final version our original friends lists will be intact. Although I doubt that will be the case.

Does it finally allow you to play steam games and the regular games at the same time? Before you could sit in a server in pregame and play checkers rather then warming up for the match, but once it started you had to exit your steam game because it blocks your view of CS. I really want to be able to play some chess/checkers(and maybe some go) while dead.Comment

yeah i think the games while dead would really help pass the time.
especially on those times where 2 people are alive, there's 4 minutes left on the map, and both are campingComment

As for your old Friends. Have you backed-up your Steam files anytime before the end of Friends? You can go into the Friends files and actually check the list manually.Comment

It's been cracking me up... for me, every time I see someone joing a game, if I try to join too it lists the IP as their local LAN IP (like 168.192.1.101 or whatever) even though they're in 'net games. Still, you can always message with the IP, so it's workable. Also lose my "away" status at random... not sure why.
As far as Gpig's comment, the steam games aren't implemented yet... hopefully they will be, and (as you mentioned) won't cover things up in-game.
I was rather pleased to notice that it picked up all the custom icons I've added for 3rd party mods, so I can quickly see exactly which game someone's playing even if it claims they're playing "half-life" in the details box. Props on that, and for just finally giving us something to play with. :)Comment

I think the guy who works on friends now has never seen the CS:S source code, nor he is a mapper or something. His job is 'Online Development Manager'. There are a lot more people there who could fix/change css, but they are focused on the new games.
Consider css as finished product, it's not going to change much from now on.Comment
