Two New Third Party Games On Steam

Ever since the release of Militia, there just hasn't been too much happening in the CS world as of late. So Valve decided to kick the news machine up a notch by allowing the pre-loading phase of two new, third party games to begin.
Dangerous Waters and Space Empires IV Deluxe are now available for pre-purchase or pre-load (with no purchase obligation) via Steam.

S.C.S - Dangerous Waters is a groundbreaking naval simulation game, and will be available via Steam for $39.95.

Space Empires IV Deluxe, a grand strategy title in the space 4X (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) genre, will also be available via Steam for just $19.95.

Those who pre-purchase one or both of the games before they are released on February 7, 2006 will save 10%.
Be sure and save the negative comments for when you've actually tried the games above. From what I've seen, these games seem like a solid addition to the Steam library. Now, if only I wasn't so confused by what's going on in the Space Empires IV Deluxe screenshots, I'd be tempted to pick it up.

I think this is what their minds are on instead of fixing CS:S bugs.

I guess it can't hurt to have more games available. It isn't like we lose anything by them being there, and with the new Steam UI, they don't even clog up your games list.

Aside from the possibility that the games themselves may suck (I don't know, I haven't played either of them), I can't see any bad in this.

These games aren't Valve-developed, so I doubt that Valve's coders and bug-fixers lost any work-time over them.

As Tux said, the placement of these games on Steam has very little to do with the developement of in-house games. It's really nothing more than acquiring the distribution rights, setting up the file system, and uploading to the content servers. All of which is probably done by people completely outside of the CS content developement.

Well hopefully they release a demo like they did for Darwania and not like they didn't do for RagDoll KungFu ... Actually after playing that game I realize why they didn't release one for it!

They did release a demo for RDKF... Around Christmas time I believe. I found nothing wrong with the game. Sure as heck was a change of pace from the FPS genre, and I've enjoyed it quite a bit for a quick game here or there.

                  Valves new mission statement?

wow this is getting pretty ridiculous.. who on earth would pay 40 bucks for a third party game.. seriously.. half-life is no longer put in with counter-strike.. i bought cs-source and as you may know in order to play alot of third party games you have to buy the ancient half-life VIA STEAM for 10 dollars.. steam is just an advertisement knockoff and i wish it was never invented.. games that would be free are now 20-40 dollars just because there's a program that advertises it so there's a better chance someone would actualy blow there money.. like buying counter-strike source for 40 bucks and not getting half-life or half-life 2 which was always bundled in earlier packages but now you must buy seperatly for alot more money. b.t.w half-life 2 was a waste of 50 bucks.. i don't even know anyone who plays it after they beat it in one day

EDIT: ROFL to buy all the games that you could buy by purchasing half-life 1 at walmart for 15 dollars you could pay 10 dollars for ricochet 10 dollars for oposing force 10 dollars for half-life 1 10 dollars for day of defeat 1 15 for cs 1.6 .. that would be 55 dollars for buying the games and getting 1 cdkey just kind of made me mad when i bought source and couldnt play natural-selection without buying half-life 1

Dangerous Waters pwns. If you can't handle realism, don't touch this sim. I have the original copy and I can tell you it's better its predecessors.

Thank god it's on Steam too. Popularity for sims like this needs to grow.
