yea X2 is just 2 core not cpu. its really no difference between amd 64 3800+ vs my x2 4400+ it's build for multi(tasking) as in burn dvd+r and play games no problem =D. wonder when will games be multi(threaded) oh well.
i suggest everyone NOT TO GET XP 64bit =). not many drivers support it =P` except ati and MAYBE nvidia? so if you want your dvd-rw to work i suggest dont install that OS =P`
its worthless as of now. wait for windows vista to finish.
and about the steam folder. just cut and paste into the program files directory or whatever and change the registry key that points to the old driectory. or just make a c:\games\ to keep your computer organized :P

and there's a huge difference between your single core and your X2. one X2 4400+ core is about the same as one 4000+ regular processor. that's pretty fast. now download one of those multi-core management apps. tom's hardware makes a good one if i remember right. put all the windows system functions and anything that's not the game you're wanting to play in core 1 and all your games in core 0. i've done this and benched games and i get better performance, although it's marginal. where it really helps is hitches. since i did this i haven't had one hiccup in any game.
2 gb of dual-channel ddr 2 and a 10000rpm sata II raid 0 array probably help as well. oh, and i won a 7800 gtx from a local pc shop. my penis > yours. lawlz.
