Do you know the true meaning of Pheer? If you don't, then ESnation sat down with 5Giant's Pheer to bring you all of the details on competitive gaming in Portugal and what it's like in the esport's scene.
What do you think is the biggest difference between Portugal and the rest of Europeans in Counter-Strike? And what do you think about the best Portuguese teams versus the best European teams? It is quite the interesting read, so what are you waiting for? Don't make me bust out any more lines from other games to get you to read the interview!
The biggest difference is dedication. While the rest of Europe KNOWS you have to dedicate yourself and commit yourself to the game, in Portugal something like that is viewed like "being a nerd". Also, our connections are really, really crappy, which means we can NOT compete/practice and GROW with Europe's best.
Except for a prepared 5Giants team, I seriously doubt any of the other Portuguese lads would be able to perform outside Portugal. Exotic has talent but they lack motivation, I think... Most portuguese captains and players don’t even understand the game well enough to play outside: since you're limited to play inside of our country, it is really difficult for ANY team or player to really grow.
We also have a huge lack of support from companies. This is mostly due to the fact that we have such a small economy that big enterprises don't even want to look us through. Still, I really think our publicity possibilities are being SERIOUSLY UNDERrated, just take a visit in our channel ( #5Giants ) in Quakenet and you'll figure out why.
