Weekly Steam News Update - New Models

VALVe must be really short-staffed to finally release an additional 2 models......

CS:Source is slowly dying because Valve just doesn't seem to care anymore.



Even though this update contains news about CS:S and DOD:S, it's still just another shameless plug for Darwinia.



And no offense to fans of that game. I know that some people like it.



I'm frustrated because when HL2 came out, CS:S was almost like an unfinished game. Only 1 model per team, and not as many maps as 1.6. There was the understanding that Valve would work to give us CS:S fans a steady stream of updates and new content. Sure, we got some stuff... compound... port... :/



But Valve has slowly been falling behind, and I can't help think that it is because they are focusing their efforts on releasing games like Rag Doll KF and Darwinia.



I feel like I got shafted.



I'm sorry if Rag Doll KF fans or Darwinia fans read this and get angry. I'm not ripping on your game or anything. I'm just expressing my dismay at the lack of new content for CS:S.

I honestly wouldn't complain if Valve never did another update to support CS:S from this point onwards. All of you paid for CS:S so you could play it in it's current form, so what's the big deal? All this "I was expecting more content by now" is drivel. If this lack of content irritates you so much it renders the game unplayable, then by all means stop playing. But if you're like me and still enjoy this game, then play it.



And honestly, how much do the player models matter?

And DOD:S having all the effects? Remember 2 weeks ago, Nuke with HDR?

Valve sure are takignt heir sweet time to get these models out. We should have had an SAS model out. At least they could have shown the GIGN in the selection instead of the urban model which we see everytime we play. Anyways, can't wait for militia to come out!



Also, I heard that Valve doesn't allow player model changes, or is it just server consistancy? This is stupid cause I did see some nice player models (arctic, guerilla etc.) out in cdg and I couldn't use them because of these errors. Wtf?



But yeah, there must be a reason guys for the lack fo models, and if they realease before they are ready, it'll be another time waster. They'll keep cahnging the models, 2 or 3 times each and then that'll be the real downfall.

Which would probably be a bit presumptious to assume that it's for Dod: Source only. It's just the Source engine in general, and the video happened to be made in DoD: Source due to the ease of telling a quick and interesting story.

[rant]What I don't think Valve realise is that the majority of people want a leet krew model and the ability to be able to hit people - and the ability to not be killed by lagging hitboxes when you were shot by a nubbin who has a reaction time of a full second, no gamesense and can only kill you by aiming no where near any part of your anotomy but still regging shots on you...



Why are shit players 'rewarded'? Why not design the game so that it rewards quick reaction time and DECENT aiming on the models ? It's too nub friendly - ya.

I hope motion blur, depth of field and colour correction come to cs:s. Those would probably be the only ones that would make it look better. Having said that, I don't think we would need many player models if we got those...

haha, whew that never ceases to piss me off. that is not just stretching the truth, it is just plain lying. that was over 4 months ago, and they had the model [probably] close to completion then. what the hell were they doing. they turned one of the biggest fanboys in the world against them.
