Weekly Steam News Update - New Models

This week's Steam news update brings about some firm release dates for future content releases! The news brings into light the upcoming releases of the new CS: Source models, Militia, and some DoD: Source updates.
We have one more week of releases coming to Steam before we close out 2005. Next week there will be two new player models, one for each team, released for Counter-Strike: Source. Early next year we'll be releasing a completely rebuilt version of cs_milita. There is also a fairly high chance we'll be releasing an update to Day of Defeat: Source next week, which will include a number of small changes.

    Model Selection

Earlier this week Darwinia was launched, and from what we've gathered, people are really enjoying the game. If you're not sure if Darwinia is for you, check out the demo here.

We'd also like to congratulate the folks over at Introversion Software for Darwinia's 4 nominations at next year's Independant Games Festival. As we've mentioned a number of times, we're all huge fans of the game, and it's great to see the game get the recognition it deserves.
Just marvel in awe at that model selection screen. It's been a long time coming to Source, and hopefully the rest of the models won't be too far away. Oh yeah, Militia should be quite tasty as well! 2006 can't come soon enough.

Whoop-dee-damn-doo. Usually I don't complain about Valve, but I'm really disappointed that they've been making such a big deal out of this release and it turns out to be a measly two models. I guess that I shouldn't have expected any more than the bare minimum. But what's the deal with the fact that they switched the original CSS models a few times? They completely redid the CT a couple of times in a short span, and it takes them this long to get out two new ones? At this rate, we'll have 4 models for each team by 2008, if we're lucky. Why doesn't Valve have a contest to let the community create the remaining models and then vote on them? We'd be all set in a month or two.

EDIT: *sigh* I guess I should be happy that we get any new content at all.

I think it's ridiculous that it takes them over a year to release just 4 player models total.

I think CS:Source is at the bottom of their list as far as add-ons go. Just from what I have seen as far as media coverage goes and from the news at Valve. It would seem Valve is tryin to make people not want to play CS:S and forget about it. They seem to be focusing their man power on DoD:S more so than anything and working on the Source engine. (Guess which games gets the new effects, DoD:S)

I'm thinking that's just a shot from Nuke. At least, so far as I can tell.

I guess they spread the new content as thin as possible to be able to keep giving us stuff for the next few years and keep people happy.. To bad for those who played the old CS for many years (like me) and are wondering why it all takes so long to release all 8 playermodels that used to be in CS..

About cs_militia, I hope you can turn off the tunnellight again as CT so it will become really dark so the use of NV is needed.. And hopefully it will be done in a way people can't cheat their way out by uping their gamma etc..
