Already had the two previous demos... we'll see if this one is any different, or if it's merely a re-release of their existing demo. Meh, at least I'm more likely to play it, given that I don't have to really go through any hassle to install it. Hmm, nearly done downloading already...

Be sure and let me know how it is. I'm stuck at work and studying for my two remaining finals. I've already given Demo #2 of the old demos a go... a brief go at least. Was fun for what I got to play of it.

Haha, I'm at work for another 2 hours as well. I just have remote admin to my computer at home set up, so I can grab updates and such from work as I have time (which on a quiet Tuesday like today is pretty often). After I get home, though, I'll definitely give this a spin and see how I like it.

Well, for all the people who said the game looks terrible, now is your chance to prove it to yourself. Remember to only play 2 minutes, so you can actually say you played it and tell everyone else how much Darwina sucks because you ignored the tutorial or just didn't care.

I played it for a good 20 minutes and I can honestly say the game isn't fun. I'm not saying the game sucks, it just didn't float my boat.

I just completed the demo, and it was ok. I dont think many of the tactics can be refined much, its just a case of rush with your nice green darwinians until no nasty red people remain, or do suicidal grenade rushes (left click to move, hold right click to fire lasers, then repeatedy press left while running) with your army guys (works rather well when you're near an army spawn point and can get others quickly).

Had a few problems with darwinians over the other side of the map, moving toward an officer who was trying to round up local darwinians to join the WW1-esque slaughter/battle at the front line, totally ignoring two officers that they walked past.

I was never sure when I had taken a spawn point, i just had to look for green guys to come out after I had surrounded it, and had an engineer (oh, so Tron!) nearby.

Still, I dont think it provides the depth that other RTS have, and I wont be buying it. Still, it wasted an hour :)

Beat the demo level pretty easily -- it's the same thing as the newer demo they had previously released as far as I can tell.

It's a neat concept, and I like the look of the game. It's like space invaders meets tron meets an RPG (the program number limit makes it feel like you're running around with like a final-fantasy squad or something) all inside a simplified RTS architecture.

The downside is that I'd have to say while it was a bit different from anything I've played before, it wasn't my cup of tea either. The first time I did any given action it seemed neat (such as aiming a radar dish or something) but it quickly lost the novelty factor, unfortunately.

I'm sure the complexity of the "puzzles" becomes greater as you progress throughout the game, with many more interesting enemies and challenges, but it's just not my personal style, I guess. The most amusing part was that, despite everyone bashing the graphics, I found that aspect of the game quite appealing and enjoyable. It's like it is hailing back to the good old 8-bit Nintendo days, but with a very modern, classy look. Kudos on that much, definitely.

The control interface, on the other hand, left something to be desired in my opinion. Maybe it was just my mind being stuck in RTS mode and wanting to be able to set quick positions to move back and forth from, or maybe it was the focus on controlling nearly all of the combat, rather than the tactical manuvering I'm more used to with that genre.

Anyway, it's an interesting game, and I'd certainly encourage others to try out the demo, as it's painless to install and I can imagine a fair number of people liking this style of gameplay.

                      This is true.

RTS games aren't my favourate, however i did find darwinia enjoyable. It seemed far too simplistic for RTS though!

Generally a good game, but with limited depth (at least htats the impression i get from the demo, as nighthawk said, it probably does get more advanced).

And i actually quite like the graphics, i thought they were funky!

I'm giving this game a rating of NOT AT ALL RELATED TO COUNTERSTRIKE.

I let Steam chomp my 56k internet connection for a few hours to download this demo. And it's... not bad. Like many have said, it seems like a simplified RTS, something in the vein of Black and White.

It's a diverting little thing, and I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure I'd pay $20 for this.
