    Nuke Reviewed

Those over at Midwest Nuclear Warzone have taken the time to write a small review for de_nuke on CS: Source.
When you first set your eyes upon de_nuke for the first time and you are a fan of the 1.6 version, your mind will be blown. The thoughts in your head will be, "there is no way this is nuke." As your eyes adjust and you take a look around you'll soon realize it is indeed nuke, just with a lot of visual eye candy.

As you walk around the map you'll notice the same old map for the most part just with a lot more background to it. Instead of being placed in the middle of some random cliff as the 1.6 version shows you, you are actually placed in the midst of a live nuclear facility.
Yes, it is quite the small review, but good things do come in small packages!

This review didn't really offer anything that couldn't be gleamed from 5 minutes of playing.

Sorry to be negative, but this "review" posted on some random forum doesn't qualify as newsworthy in my book.

that blooming effect does take its toll on fps...

But i hated Nuke in 1.6, and I still hate Nuke in source.

Unless it's a review of a custom map, it doesn't need to be CSN frontpage news. 99% of all CS players are going to look at that and say "no shit!"

            I think it's a decent review.

Sure maybe Regular maps might seem odd, but what all of you who are dissing this review need to realize, is A LOT of people don't have CS:Source, so this is very beneficial and helpful to those who want ot learn more about it =D

Here's the condensed version of the review:

It looks better (HDR is beautiful), but you need a good computer to handle the outdoor areas.

They removed the 2nd basement room, but otherwise same layout.

That's it. That's all they wrote.

well aren't we mister negative :p hehe!

I dunno, I think it's very honest. A lot of reviews on maps, etc.. aren't very honest. They spend their time speaking all out in technical lingo that most people wouldn't understand, and they are left there like, uhhhh, atleast this review gives people a break down on how the map is in plain english. A rarity now days indeed :)

Fair enough. I was just hoping for more substance.

I agree that it wouldn't be a review I would read to try and learn strategy on the map, but for general information purposes, I think it's a decent job.

Looks like they're a pretty new site anywyas, looked around it a bit. givem them tie and i'm sure they'll improve maybe. seems like they want to be a CS news site as well.

Nukes freaking boring, thats what it is.

Has no style in comparison to the original, its just a port/compound recycled fix up.

What style?? Washed out low detail blue walls, or the HL1 canyon setting? Or maybe the totally empty dead feel of settings in the old HL-engine in general?

And indeed there are still plenty of people outthere that don't have CS:S yet, looking at the playernumbers of both CS 1.6 and CS:S it's probably the majority of CS players even.. Most most likely need to upgrade their very old PC's first before they can even try CS:S, because playing CS with very bad fps is simply no fun (that's also a reason why a lot of people with older PC's that did try CS:S don't like it, because the bad fps ruins the whole experience).. Thankfully I do have the horsepower so I can play CS:S fine.. Nuke runs very good for me (everything high, but without the HDR though), no real major fps drops when going outside etc.. I think in visual terms the map could even had a little more detail in it with maybe some small props etc (I love the small stuff in CS:S that flies arround when grenades blow up, things like cans and bottles etc, it gives the game a more livelike feel imho)..
