Looking over the change list, I was rather impressed with the number of fixes. That said, as many as there were, I have the sad realization based off of far too much experience that the constant whining about "vavle does nothing but waste tyme on ragdol poop fix css plz kthx vavle sux i'm entitled gimme gimme" won't end here.

Out of all of that, though, yes, the VIP entry caught my eye the most. I'm really anxious for the public release of the VIP mod!

On a side-note, Nuke looks impressive. Well done.

You can still do the $800 money trick.

Bugs I've found so far, after just half an hour of playing:

              - So much for not being able to spec whore anymore. I can STILL go into spec mode and come back into a team to get my money topped up to $800 if I die with less than $800. I thought you fixed this when the changelog stated "Fixed changeteam exploit"

              - Sometimes player names do not show when spectating, I think this happens to the first player you spectate after dying.

              - Jumping off ladders is extremely difficult now that you have changed the ladder dynamics. In de_prodigy I used to be able to look down while on the ladder in the vents, and then pounce on enemies if I saw them pass by. Now, instead of "unlatching" from the ladder when I press spacebar to jump, my body climbs up the ladder at the height that I would normally jump.

This is probably the best map so far for Source, it's beautiful. Not too bland, just perfect.

I'm a fan of the update with a few complaints. First off, the first time I tried exiting the game from a listen server, the screen just locked on the last frame of the game when I hit F10 to exit. It's actually the last screenshot above. I waited and waited and ultimately had to do a hard reboot on my computer.

I tried it again after the reboot, but chose "Disconnect" first and then clicked on "Quit" to exit the game. The game hung for a while before actually exiting as it should. It could just be from Nuke as I haven't tried exiting from any other map but that yet after this update. I didn't have this problem before, and don't have it in DoD: Source, so I'm not entirely sure what's up.

Minor complaint: Removal of the second basement room in Nuke? I hadn't actually noticed until my second play through, so it's nothing too big. The vents and such are still quite functional.

The door handles don't actually move in Nuke.

Complaints aside, I'm quite thrilled about the silent and slow ladder walks now. Nuke should please the competitive crowd quite a bit with the no thrills and no additional barrels/boxes to contend with.

Really glad to see HDR added into CS: Source. ... Though I stupidly have yet to test out how flashbangs work with it, now that I'm thinking about it.

The fixes to the spectators are also nice (flashbang one is cool).

Oh, the spectator fix was one that dealt with ragers being able to freeze people by exploiting a spectating bug, it has nothing to do with the $800 thing.

well i changed my resolution from 1280x1024 (lcd) to 1024x768 to hope to get more fps with HDR activated and now cs:s wont launch and makes a usb port sound wave like something is unplugged and being plugged back in... i think it screwed with my video card or has trouble detecting a ati 700x pro.

i know there is a quick fix for this but i cant remember the console command you put in command line options before launching the game under properties i think its something like -resolution 1024x768 but i cant remember if you know please reply to this as soon as possible.

i'll be checking back every other minute, thanks.

                      -edit-

this just in HDR WILL DESTROY YOUR COMPUTER! (im now on my laptop posting).

i rebooted and like my video card is corrupted or damaged now. wtf!

Zips, if you think about it, that second basement room was pretty superfluous Personally I'm glad they removed it, I always wondered what it was there for.

Beetlesmod lets you set a cash penalty on people who switch to spec and back to team. I'm sure Mani has something similar. Have your slack server op set it up and stop whinging.

HDR takes me from 100 fps (capped) to 40-50 average. Don't think I'll bother.

Nuke is good, but I couple of things that I have noticed, whether the change is for the better or not I dont know...

-The step just past ladder to rafters is rather annoying, having to jump to get back into the room, and the doorway isnt the widest to jump through. I can see people dying simply because they couldnt retreat, and getting annoyed. Also in rafters, the footsteps are the same when running on the concrete surround as on the floor, which makes positional guessing harder. I havent tried it, but falling onto the forklift could be an easy way down without losing much health.

-The line of site from lobby to ramp has been removed. This was used quite frequently for picks and spotting attacks.

I think the removal of the second lower room could be good. The old tactic of people hiding behind the blast doors and shooting through is now a lot more risky, as someone could easily sneak up of you, and the glass in the doors breaks, allowing someone with a less penetrative weapon to return fire.

It will be interesting to see how these new additions pan out for the map, and whether it will change the balance at all. If anything, the changes would appear to be more CT sided.

Right click on CS:S, go to "Properties" then "Set launch options..."

                                -w 800 -h 600 -refresh 144

                                -w 1024 -h 768 -refresh 100

                                -w 1280 -h 1024 -refresh 85

                                ...you get the idea.

(width / height / refresh rate) Make sure you pick numbers that your video card, monitor, and CS:S all support. I've always had to have these options for CS:S to run in any mode that wasn't windowed because of the Source engine's inability to deal with the stupid 60hz refresh bug in Win2k/XP like most other games can.
