    Beta SDK Launched

Valve has just released the BETA version of the latest SDK for the Source engine. The release has a number of additions including added support for HDR as well as the inclusion of DoD: Source map tools. Those eager to test out the latest additions can add -beta sdk to the end of your Steam target line. The new target should look something like this:

    "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -beta sdk

Just a very small handful of the additions, changes, and bug fixes can be seen below, with the full list viewable right here.
      Features:

    • Added support for HDR map compiles in Normal and Expert build dialogs

    • Added SDK support for DoD

    • VGUI Model browser with substring filtering, 3D preview, and reference grid to indicate the size of the model. Camera controls are:

    • left mouse: rotate

    • right mouse: zoom

    • middle mouse or SHIFT: translate

    • Overhauled Autovisgroups

    • Added many new Auto visgroups

    • Created a separate tab for Autovisgroups in the Filter dialog

    • Disallowed users changing Autovisgroup membership, deleting Autovisgroups, etc.

    • Objects that are loaded in a hidden state without being in a user visgroup will throw an alert message and will be placed in a User visgroup named “_orphaned hiddenâ€?

    • Objects hidden by a user created visgroup can no longer be made visible by the actions of the auto visgroup.

    • Filter dialog is now resizable
For those of you willing to provide quality feedback to the BETA, all suggestions and feedback can be submitted to the SDK BETA Bugs page.

Downloading it as I write this. Looks like a number of good additions, but sadly HLMV for CS:S, the part I care about most, remains a shadow of what JHLMV is for CS.

Awesome. Now we'll finally get to see some decent, if not better, custom DoD maps.

To get HDR to work w/ HL2 SP maps... launch through Lost Coast.

Great to see some SDK support. Can't wait to try this out. I hear the changes to how models and displacements are viewed in the 2D views rocks.
