I play cs for fun, but I don't insult people who play it for money out of jealousy.

wow making money (real money) playing video games ... not a bad way to burn out your retinas!

If I were any good at games I'd love to get paid to play. Hell he's got the best commute ever - 10 feet from his bed to his computer!

e-sports may be a fad (or it may not be!), but don't put down a guy who's making a living off it just because you can't.

Damnit, I wanted to be an internet beauty judge... Well-said though rizzuh, even if your views on the importance to women of personality vs. financial success don't seem to quite line up. Most amusing part, though, is the blatant sarcasm at the end that was utterly missed by the next guy. But I digress...

However, there’s only a very small portion of the gaming community that makes any money at it.
Where as in the "real" sports you compared this to, this is different? How many people play basketball vs. how many people get paid to play? You're talking about a sport that's been established for several decades, and the vast majority of people who participate make no money whatsoever out of it. That's true of all sports, electronic or not.
Nobody is better then anybody, period.
I find postmodern statements of equality to be rather amusing. Was Mother Theresa no better than Adolf Hitler? Yes, it's an extreme example, but it illustrates a point.

A sophist never says to a fool "you're no better than me" and the gainfully employed man never says to the bum "I'm just as good as you." Statements of absolute equality are usually spawned from an underlying but denied sense of inferiority.

All I'm getting at is that, if we're honestly secure in our position here in life, we have no need to say "he's no better than us" or whatever, because it's not an issue. On the other hand, if we're just trudging through school or a low-level job we don't enjoy, have mediocre finances at best, and only a few people would take notice were we to disappear forever... what are our real motivations for criticizing the fame and fortune (on whatever limited scale) that Jonathan has won?

Anyway, interesting article... he is quite amazing to watch play, if you've ever gotten the chance.

I played against him at the E3 last year. If I recall correctly you had to kill him once out of 7 rounds to win a mousemat. They gave 3 mousemats away that day. I did not receive a mousemat.

I think there was a misinterpretation here. I was talking about the conceded asshats that plague message boards and clan matches that talk like they make money gaming. These people like to insult you while always falling back on the excuse, "We make money doing this. You're a noob!" People who act like that probably make nothing.

In the general sense of what I was trying to say, I believe I was correct. A guy who makes more money then someone doesn't make them the better person. That's it. Your statement about absolute equalitly is also a terrible generalization. You can stop playing like you're Dr. Phil. I don't need to be analyzed by a stranger who's never met me.

What are you getting at? Dark-Angel made a comment that Fatality is completely superior, as a person. I was just replying to what he said. I wasn't defending the guy he was replying to, either. I never was trivializing his success in any form. Money doesn't make a person. That's just what I believe. You pretty much took everything I said out of context. Thank you.

You misinterpreted what I said... I didn't say he was better than everybody in the world... Only the idiots with pre judged opinions that know nothing about him.

Perhaps a greaty many of posters in this thread should overcome the pitiful insecurity and perception instilled in them through popular media--established and garnered by the careful and manipulative scheming of an exploitative few intending to profit off of the institution of an such an apprehensiveness that so many of you idiots (and 99% of the rest of the population) are so pathetically susceptible to, and realize there exists significance and endeavor outside of the absurdly confined "reality" centered around fucking and absorbing monetary accumulation that you pledge docility to so blindly and faithfully.

Yeah woah, besides girls and money there is also the sport of early college intellectualism that some subscribe to so well.

I'm not sure if you are implying that I am some college attendee who has been enlightened by his instructors, but I have not been in college for many years. I think it was something like 18 years ago.

I was just kidding you, my brother. You have to admit that your angry, run-on sentence was "deep" with serious air-quotes, though.

I didn't like that movie the first time I saw it. There's no need for a remake.
