Upcoming CS: Source Content and More Zombies

It's Friday. What's that mean to you? It could mean the end of the work week, the end of the school week, or a day where parties are planned for the night hours. For Valve, it marks the release of another news update!
We hope everyone is enjoying Lost Coast. We've received a number of e-mails with positive feedback about the commentary system included in Lost Coast, so it's a safe bet that we'll look for ways to include commentary in future products.

We're now going to be looking toward releasing some new Counter-Strike: Source content we've been working on. The next two maps coming will be updated versions of de_nuke and cs_militia, along with a number of new player models for both sides. We'll give everyone a sneak peek at Nuke and some of the new models next week.

Two weeks ago we mentioned our affinity for all things zombie, along with the note that someone here at Valve had made a short movie on the subject. Zombie Movie has won Best Comedy Horror Short down at Screamfest L.A. and we're looking forward to delivering the movie over Steam soon. We think everyone will get a kick out of it.
Naturally, CS: Source fans are going to enjoy November a great deal.

Good news, looking forward to it. :)

Played through Lost Coast twice so far, without and with commentary, and debating going back through one more time and just seeing what all things I can screw around with, play some more with the phyics, and such. My last attempt to take a rowboat out to sea was sadly aborted by a bunch of hungry leeches, heh. :) It makes me want to pull out HL2 and go through it yet another time, but sadly that's a little too time-consuming at this point.

One other random thing... where do you think Lost Coast would have fit into the Highway 17 section, and where would the entrance/exit have been? Just a bit of modified geometry and driving your buggy along the dunes or what? Just seems to lack the clear entry/exit that many other stops along the way have.

Comedy Horror flick, eh? Should be interesting. :)

I'm sure it is. The same mistake was made in the February Steam news update about compound, which was also incorrectly listed as de_

If they make militia a de_ map, I will personally kill every cow in India.

de_militia, interesting concept if they made it more evenly sided so it would be playable in CAL. But fuck that I want old militia with updated pretty looks :)

Sound's Good Valve I can see that Cliffe has been telling you what all us moaner's have been saying over here at CSN and what we are all disappointed about at the moment in CS:S, Which im gathering you are taking note's of kind of now make's me feel like im doing something for CS:S . You have even now managed to add abit about new model's for both teams sounds excellent!

Can finally say that Valve your starting to do a good job with CS:S, I can now see alot of postive feedback coming your way also.

wow and someone called me a fanboy? =P

I'm guessing the new CS:S maps will be visually great, but I wonder if they'll make too many changes play-wise... i.e. Inferno was my favorite map and I was expecting upgraded visuals with the Source engine - but I wasn't expecting them to change the environment and surroundings so much that the map looked totally different when I first played it. Also the new corridors on the right side got me killed a few times.

On the other hand, maps like CS:S Aztec can still be called "familiar" in a sense that the layout from the older versions is intact, and most of the changes in environment didn't make the whole map seem like a different place.

In between this is something like Assault - where the layout is still similar and true to the classics - but the enhancements for gameplay added to the map while still keeping the original feel.

I don't know if I'm explaining it the right way, but regardless I'm looking forward to the new additions - hopefully the SAS model will be released after waiting so long since those teaser pics they showed =)
