I think someone does not know the diference between a 6600GT and a 6800GT.

So you see now? 6800GT is A LOT faster than 6600GT. You can't even compare... 6800GT is in another league.

So you better start shuting up your mouth.
Listen, Lost Coast is just as dependent on your CPU and other computer hardware as it is your video card. That's the point I'm trying to make. I'm locked down by my CPU speeds and you're locked down by... your entire system I guess.

Your CPU should more than make up the difference between our systems. Try finding out what is actually wrong with your system before lecturing Nighthawk and myself about how things are or how things should be.

It was short but it sure was damn sweet. Here's to another year or two until Aftermath.
I believe PC Gamer mentioned they'll have a review of Aftermath in their upcoming issue... Coming out mid November or something.

SubNeoN's benchmarks show that at higher settings his system is still far outperforming the rest of ours, as it should. I don't see any performance hit between NoAA/Trilinear and 2xAA/4xAF. (I do however get about 10-20% slowdown when enabling 4xAA/8xAF.)

Figured I'd post a few more screenshots, both for those who just want to look at the beauty, and to show performance in different areas of the game. All taken with highest settings and 2xAA/4xAF@1024x768.

        Some more screenshots:

        (water @ 55fps) (water/buildings/boats/etc @ 41fps) (ruins @ 57fps)

        (church @ 46fps) (church/shell loader @ 55fps) (courtyard @ 45fps)

As the pics show, performance fluxuates some, but this should give you a general idea of what to expect with a midrange system. If only we could all have systems like SubNeoN's, eh? :)

lol sorry if it seemed like i was bragging.. i wasn't meaning to sound that way.. just trying to see what the performance hit of aa was.. even if over-riding the engine's 6x limit with 8x aa.. when first started the game i was shocked at it showing me 23 fps lol.. but then realised why as i'd forced my settings WAY to high lol.. but it was still playable, and it's so beautiful :) at recommended settings it's perfect:)

i have the screenshots in sets of 3 if you would like me to upload them

they're 3840x960 each. each showing the places in all 3 levels of detail, with fraps fps in the corner.

as a side note.. i tried hl2 at 2560x1024 and i got about 50~60 fps with 8xaa and 16xaf.. over 2 screens :o looked fantastic! lol will have to borrow a tft again and try lost coast at the res to see how much of a hit that is on the system..

lol, how do you aim like that? Isn't the crosshair right smack dab in-between your two screens? I've done CS on a projector before, which was fun, but it honestly made it way harder to play because I had to move my eyes around a lot to take in everything on the screen.

Matrox made the Parhelia with the 3 Monitor support which made sense to me, seeing as the center monitor is pretty much showing what a lone monitor would anyway with the crosshairs in the middle. But yeah, seems like 2 would be tough unless only 1 was for your view, and the other for like a map or some crap like that. I have dualhead on my 6600GT as well, but I haven't tried it out for lack of a second monitor...

Bet you can get some pretty sweet panoramic screenshots with that mode though.

Anyway, don't worry about the "bragging" thing or whatever... we're just discussing system performance, not having a pissing contest. As far as posting the pics... sure, imageshack 'em if you want and post 'em, or you can wait until HL2:LC gets more coverage so people will actually see them (this news is getting old).

yea it was pretty tough, the crosshair being in the middle. was fun though.

looked spectacular in fear aswell lol. i'll do as ya say and wait for more coverage on the shots.. since we seem to be the only people posting now lol
