    Xbox Half-Life 2 Impressions

Over at IGN's media page for Half-Life 2 you can scope out any of the four new videos of the Xbox version of Half-Life 2. The videos showcase various sections from the airboat levels. Each video is over a minute in length and will certainly want to be checked out by any Xbox owner who has yet to experience Half-Life 2 on the PC.

I recall the ravenholm screenshots looking like a great big pile of steaming crap, but these videos..... It looks like it's running HL2 on the medium / high settings. Looking real good for xbox owners :)

Half-Life 2 is so scalable that you could play it on a computer that costs a little more than an xbox and a game at enjoyable settings.

FPS's on consoles suck (except for Goldeneye for N64)

Nada. Console games are more expensive (usually 10 dollars more)

Actually, I think Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are waaay overrated. They was great for their time (and the limitations of console controls), but they're pretty terrible by today's standards. They don't hold up to the test of time at all. IMO.

So I guess all games from the past are crap because they aren't by "today's standard"?

^ Well, no. There are many games that still retain their playability and fun over time, and Goldeneye and Perfect Dark is are not amongst them.

I don't think snkcube has played goldeneye/perfect dark in a while, helkite. I don't think he realizes how poorly it holds up. Super Mario 64 held up fine and got ported to the DS and was still great, but shooter gameplay has surpassed the gameplay of goldeneye(not to mention the resolution/framerate). Goldeneye would probably be fine if it was on slightly better hardware. The original quake multiplayer is still great to play.

I know that Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are outdated by this point. Many games surpass both with more features and modes, but they're not bad games.
