I actuly got to use the Friends system like once...it sorrta worked...after many times trying to log on.



The new UI looks good and I hope the new addons in Steam 3 are incredible (awwww no more Lost Coast 100% :P It does say now that it is in my list...woot)

About time they fixed Friends.. Ever since I'm behind a router Friends never worked for me, and yes I've opened port 1200 etc..

I liked the beta, I have yet to see this version, from what a bunch of my friends were saying it isn't as good and we should go back to the old version, but we are all entitled to our own opinions.

I think the new interface looks quite good. But we're not playing Valve games because we like the way the Steam GUI looks. I'll be more impressed when the tools and games behind the interface are as polished.



In case anyone from Valve is reading this: Before you go rushing off to make the touchy-feely experience of purchasing a new Valve product smoother or better-looking, you need to work on consumer confidence in your games to begin with. If I have no faith in the product being 95% solid from the moment it goes on sale, and I prefer to wait and see what others think before I buy it (if at all), it's that much later before you get my dollars. A prettier user interface isn't going to change that.

By the way, in case there was some confusion, I'm mostly happy with the Valve games I own. This is just a general disillusionment and wariness brought on by Valve's release of CS:S before it was ready and the efforts of your colleagues at EA who can't get BF2 working and whose patches are worse than their original bugs. Here's your chance to shine by comparison.

There are a lot of bugs that I've seen



1) Bandwidth monitor doesn't work

2) A lot of the text/buttons aren't alligned right

3) Sometimes you get "Preparing list of Steam games..." over your game list (http://dthmnk.cs-irc.com/images/another_steam_error.PNG) this stops you from clicking on the game.

4) If you install CZ it auto-adds CS and HL1 to the Installed games list (not really a "bug" but it can get confusing) The old GUI just installed the files but didn't highlight the game.

5) Server filters don't stay (the three check boxes on the right side)

6) The shopping-cart links don't work.



Those are the main ones I've noticed :-/

The new GUI is ok....but rather bulky and loses its appeal after awhile. I'll have to agree with some people that VALVe should get something done before they release another addition. Not saying it's bad, but in the long run, VALVe will have a handfull of problems to fix and a lot of angered fans.
