    Steam Receives a Face Lift

The first phases of the new Steam UI have just gone live to the public!
A new Steam client has been released, updating the integrated Steam store and the Games list. The update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.

These changes are part of a larger set of features (collectively known as Steam 3) which will be introduced over the course of the coming months. Today's release allows Steam to offer a larger and more varied collection of games to our customers, and introduces a-la-carte purchases.

We hope everyone enjoys the changes.

And Don't forget to pre-order Rag Doll Kung Fu while it's still only $12.95!
Also noted in a Steam news update is this little bit of information regarding the Friends list.
The next area we're going to be focusing on is the Friends system. As such, Friends will not be available until the overhauled version is released. We will keep you informed of its progress.
So restart your Steam clients in order to get your first look at the updated look for Steam. I certainly see this new look as a step, nay, a leap in the right direction!

They disabled it a while ago spartianII, and they've said that the code was being rewritten a while ago, it's just the first time it's been on the Steam News.

And I have the same problem kerosine99.

Bleh. The games are still not drag-and-droppable. I still have Codename Gordon as my first game on my list even when I rarely ever play it. I still can't create my own categories. The "store" is sometimes a flurry of mysql (or whatever) errors.

Not bad, but still not entirely polished, much like a lot of stuff VALVe seems to release. I'm sure it'll improve over the next few months time, but VALVe really shouldn't do things like this.

Of course, I likely have no idea what I'm talking about, so that's my two cents and adieu.

I like the new way things look and friends working will be great, it hasn't

worked right since steam first came out...but it's ok Valve has had more important things to work on (cs:s and dod:s)

You do know what you're talking about. Oh yes you do. I really only check up this site for the comments and just to see how things are going in the CS community, but I havn't played anything past CZ except for HL2. I'm disgusted with how valve can't seem to finish projects. CS:S -STILL- lacks player models- What the hell is that? Is it some kind of sick joke? Ah well.. I'm sure no one wants to hear the bitching, but it's very reasonable bitching. Friends can't be too difficult to maintain, either. It's sad how I can go from having hours and hours of CS fun and go right to the extreme opposite and not play any valve products for months and months. More of you need to buy battlefield 2. <3 <3 <3
