    CS: Source Weapon Guide

Being the kind sport that he is, Twanger (from clan <[Mr]>), has pieced together a fairly comprehensive weapon's guide for CS: Source.
As I continue to improve my own understanding of the game and its complexities, so too will this guide improve in its completeness and precision. This should be looked at as a work in progress, not a be-all-end-all. Anyone who followed the process of this guide’s creation will note that I have continually refined it and streamlined it to make it what it is now. My work on this guide has helped me to improve my own understanding of the game and its subtleties, and I hope that in browsing it and taking an interest in its contents, you too will acquire a greater understanding and appreciation for the game.
The guide takes a look at every weapon in the game, and is arranged according to weapon classification. Each weapon is rated on a number of details including accuracy, control, damage, and armor penetration. Have you ever wanted to know about how much each weapon can penetrate a texture? Well, wonder no more!

Fun read, interesting stuff maybe I'll give it a try when I play CS: S again.

I read the pistol section... looks good so far...

however, the site seems to be having a lot of traffic now or something, I can't get any of the other pages to load...

I will comment again later when I can read more.

Good guide, CSN should buy it and replace the archaic 1.6 weapon guide with it. His description of the UMP rof is quite apt:
Look at the numbers - this is a great SMG. It does more damage than the mp5, is more accurate, boasts more penetrating power, carries damage better over distance, and produces very little recoil or spread during movement. Unfortunately, it fires slower than old people fuck.
                Indeed.

                  meh...

I wouldn't call the UMP "great"...

the very disadvantages he mentions makes it a poor weapon...

it might do more damage than an mp5, but because of it's low cyclic rate, it kills slower than an mp5... and with an mp5 spitting out rounds faster, you have a better chance of getting a headshot in the same amount of time versus a UMP (more rounds = more chances for a headshot)

                  just my 2 cents

ump is the most accurate weapon in cs, it's weak but it's handy.

and this guide is not accurate, since most of the weapons in source are crap and still have glitches in them.

Sava, he said exactly that? The numbers and all make it great but the slow RoF just stops it from being so.

Seemed to be a good guide, with enough raw statistics to let you draw your own conclusions if you were surprised by anything in the summary.

I'm surprised that no mention was made of the Famas' burst-fire feature when you right-click. The M249 also seems to be useless if you go by the blurb, but has excellent utility in terms of what he calls "texture penetration"; not sure why that wasn't mentioned.

But overall, thanks for the guide, Twanger :)

Meh - tis a comedy weapon , and umping sounds like humping, which makes me chuckle. (^_^)

Nice little guide for those new to CS:S. (Seeming to be around 60 - 80 % of the community :P)

Yeah, the UMP is the most accurate weapon in CS. Even better than the AWP. Man, I do all my long-range shooting with the UMP, because it's soooo accurate.

Kinda sad little gun, really... I have never figured out why people claim it's an accurate gun, because in all of my experience, it's been far more difficult to use at range than an MP5. Sure, I'd take it over a TMP most of the time if it's laying on the ground, but if economically faced with only SMG prospects, I'll use the extra $200 for a flashbang and stick with the MP5.

Somehow Sava's comment about the extra chances for a HS with the MP5 ring true to my experience. About the only time I've done well with the UMP is when I have to head-on face a group of rushing enemies, as the lower cyclic rate doesn't seem to matter as much in that situation, and the larger .45c rounds can help out.

Anyway, always good to have a guide like this for newer players. Well done.

great guide, (i'm a little biased, i know the guy who made it) the values were all carfuly measured and double checked. i helped with the shotguns and it took all night just to get accurate numbers. don't read it like the law or anything but certainly take a look at it and make sure you haven't been making false assumptions about the guns when you play.
