CSN Up Again

In an attempt to fix some downtime, I ended up really screwing up the Linux install that runs one of our webservers. Well, uh, sorry for being so stupid!

Well since we're running on a brand new Linux install, the odds of our intermintent downtime continuing should be fairly slim. Let's hope!

If I may ask, what, exactly, did you do? I can't think of many ways to harm a server in such a way a reinstall was required.. (I also don't see why it was down for around 52 hours when I could reinstall a server in half a day)

I accidentally moved /lib* to /usr/lib, so the loader was no longer available. For some reason, copying the files back didn't work.



To explain why it took so long... Well, CSN doesn't have incredibly high-priority support. Our host gives us excellent support, but they have paying customers to look after.

Oy.. This is why I double check every mv, cp, rm, dd, etc command before hitting enter.



Oh well, accidents happen.



It seems to think it's 5am btw, that's one annoying clock.

Believe me, I'm hoping that the downtime periods are long gone. It'll certainly give me a chance to concentrate more on content.

We're going to start replacing hardware soon, as our stability is seemingly not a factor of software.
