The creator of Half-Life TV (HLTV), Martin Otten, was interviewed by GotFrag regarding his production that helped push competitive Counter-Strike "into the eSports limelight", and his current project, Source TV.

With the popularity of such a unique and creative program, Gabe Newell himself contacted Otten (who was contacted by Angel Munoz with the idea) about writing something similar to Argus for Half-Life: A tool with the same idea, but a lot more functionality... The arrival of multicast to the spectator world was at hand.
