    Steam Weekly Update

Valve Software has once again posted its weekly update to Steam users. This week, Valve discusses the upcoming Half-Life High-Def pack and gives fans a sneak peek at Day of Defeat: Source.
Bringing owners of the original Half-Life a blast-from-the-pastâ„¢, earlier this week we released "Half-Life: Blue Shift" on Steam. This game was made by Gearbox Software and originally released in 2001 as an add-on to Half-Life. In it, you play as Barney Calhoun, the security guard sidekick who helped Gordon out of so many sticky situations back in the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Fans will remember that Blue Shift included a "High Definition Pack," a set of visually enhanced player and weapon models. We've had to iron out some technical wrinkles with how we deliver the HD Pack, but it will be made available through Steam within the next week or so.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to share an angry Axis soldier running across the Day of Defeat: Source map "Flash" (ed: pic above). He and his shovel are coming soon to a Steam Games List near you. (It's difficult for us to pin the exact date down right now, but rest assured it's not far off.)

    Steam Weekly Update

Another one of Valve's weekly updates was posted yesterday. This announcement states that the Valve team hopes everyone is enjoying Day of Defeat: Source as much as they enjoyed creating it. It looks like Valve is also having a good time playing their game on numerous servers.

In addition to the fulfillment of being entertained with Day of Defeat: Source, Valve will start preloading Rag Doll Kung Fu next week and will then be released on October 12th at 3:00 pm PST. Following the release of Rag Doll Kung Fu will be a Steam update which "restructures the way games are presented in Steam to accommodate the release of more products."

Lastly, the Steam hardware survey has been refreshed. The hardware survey helps give game developers a feel of what the community hardware consists of. You can view the results of the survey here.

they have been posting that they are releasing it soon for quite a while, and judging that they can't pin a date, my guess would be another month or two.

DoD:S looks really nice, but the HD-Pack for HL / Opp Force / Blue Shift / ... somehow doesn't look good (I have to say: I don't see any difference).

EDIT: That they didn't pin down a date for DoD:S is somehow strange. But my computer isn't good enough for any source-game so I don't have to worry.

"Rest assured it's not far off." So does that mean a month or so? That'd be nice.

Its not a port, the hi-def pack came out with blue-shift.

Damn it!!! DOD looks really nice but I only bought the bronze version. Is there any chance that Valve will allow customers to buy DOD separately?
