CS: Source, HL1: Source, and Source Engine Updates

Good news, everybody! Another batch of updates were released tonight for CS: Source, Half-Life 1: Source, and the Source engine.
      Counter-Strike: Source

    • Added validation of custom player model and weapon materials. Custom materials must be VertexLitGeneric with only $baseTexture and $bumpmap variables defined

      Source Engine

    • Fixed "not logged in" error not displaying properly

    • Fixed not being able to run internet game servers for Source Mods in a debugger

      Half-Life: Source

    • Enabled low violence content for low violence users
You may also notice that Half-Life 2: Lost Coast has appeared under the "Coming Soon" section on Steam.

Anyone care to elaborate on what that effectively means?

Too bad they havent done anything about Friends it stopped working over a month ago I havent even bothered with it. I mean dont get me rong best concept ever before steam came out I remember Valve released meadia demonstrating the friends part. Lookeded nothing like what it does now but I was really excited about it.

Too bad when you double click on Loast Cost in comming soon you get this error "Error: CanonicalVector: degenerate"

I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means. And I think that means they dissallowed hacked model guns. Oh noes. I hope I am not right.

Great! If DOD:S has been in Coming Soon section for like 6 or 7 months, now we gotta wait for HL2:LS also same time

Ah, that's a damn shame CSN's database f***ed up, I had a long passionate speech about how it would of been great for Valve to have actually make some new additions to 1.6. After all, it's still majority of Steam.

Thank God. I'll be the first person to download and patch my PC version of "Grand Theft Auto." I want to shoot people in the face, bang prostitutes, traffic drugs, steal cars, and terrorize police officers without this filthy smut in my game. Frankly, I'm appalled that Rockstar would allow such wholesale corruption of our youth.

So they have reduced the amount of customization you can create for your replacement models, they've fixed two bugs that wont affect most players anyway, and they added a feature that almost nobody uses for a game that almost nobody plays.

well, I do find myself looking at the top of story of malls for

snipers. And I do sometimes inherently find myself reaching for

my glock, pluse cannon, or M60 to blow the hell out of some car

that just cut me off, but I find that anything can influence me

to be upset, and that is really the issue. Video games may affect

your basic mental reaction to getting pissed off, but it doesn't

change the extent of your actions while pissed off. To kill

someone or act out violently, you have to be angry to a degree at

which you aren't mentally stable or you must have just been born

"a cold hard killer." Video games don't affect either one of those scenario's, the same as hard rock or going shooting. Video games don't desensitize you anymore than MTV or the movies

The only thing arguably that video games do (like hard rock or

rap) is get you on emotional high that you might carry through to

taking some action you wouldn't normally do (essentially get you

angry). But this is no different than a kid who pushes you on the

playground, it does make you angry, but the extent to which you let that affect you is not the fault of that which caused you to be angry. It is the fault of the undiscipline in your behavior that allows you to take extreme action.

I've started playing Doom and Doom 2 when I was 8. Got into Counter-Strike at 15 and I've been playing it since... I have yet to do anything that the media is saying I'm well overdue to do.
