Not to say steam's stats arent of integrity. But xfire shows for some reason more minutes played by thier users on source. I see no clear reason why so many more source players would use xfire than 1.6 players? better comps maybe? or maybe because xfire is somewhat new and 1.6 players are more rigid to change of any kind.
Evidently everybody who uses Steam also uses XFire by your logic.

Your logic is flawed though because that's simply not the case.

Ha, when you say "Not one to leave the CS 1.6 community high and dry" You are infact talking about the majority of people who play on Steam.

1.6 still most popular. Thanks and bye.
    But, I never said otherwise...

Well, perhaps true to form, I don't use Xfire and I play 1.6/CZ far more than I play Source.

As far as the stats, honestly VALVe would both have the best resources for determining player counts (duh, they run Steam) and they'd have no reason to distort the statistics. Realistically, if they were going to distort anything, they'd be trying to make Source seem more popular in hopes of more people buying it.

So with that in mind, I think the assertion that perhaps people who like change would both adopt CS:S and Xfire is pretty reasonable.

What logic? I think you misread. I was just saying that its weird steam shows way more 1.6 players yet xfire has more source players, and i was giving some ideas that i thought might explain why. Which nighthawk gave his idea on what it most likely is.

I use Xfire and I play 1.6, so I break the mold.

I think most of the people who play 1.6 are 'serious gamers' and are the kind of people who want that .1 more FPS and 10 less ping they get by not having Xfire run in the background. Whereas people who play CS:S are just having fun and don't care if Xfire is on.

Plus, CS 1.6 is old, Xfire is new. People out of the loop for years would still be playing CS 1.6 and not be using Xfire. To be honest, I'm a user of Xfire and I still don't really hear much about it, except this site. I also don't know too many people who use it, so my friends list is rather empty, I just use it for game-hour-logging.

Anyway, I think all games should be supported in the following ways:

          A) Bug fixes

          B) Hack/Cheat prevention

          C) Features from sequels that are easily ported to the original

          D) Tech Support.

So long as the maker of the game is still in business, of course.
