why would valve put in such a helpful command and not tell anyone? What if matt or anyone never "found it" the cvar add would be in vain.

I'm glad that they did it this way instead of mentioning in their update news.



It was a nice surprise and much better now that the post-ANYupdate whinging has settled down a little bit.

Wow, this many people have been suffering through random crap just for spray all these years? I've been using cl_allowdownload 0 since the first time a server forced me to download doh.wav, and that was years ago.

I love Valve... they are always innovating. First they implement a really annoying 'feature', and then years later release a way of disabling it. Yay!

It's not so much the sprays, which are usually either gross or funny... people love their custom maps. This is a way of keeping a really useful feature, and disabling the annoying ones.



I wouldn't bitch too much about them not documenting the feature, considering they could remove it just as easily to be dicks to you whiners. I never looked in the readme.txt file, or received an email from Gabe telling me how to tune my cmdrate and updaterate either.
