    Xfire 1.42 Released

The multipurpose contact list and game joining program known as Xfire has just hit version 1.42. The program will automatically update the next time you restart Xfire, or if you have not grabbed it yet, the latest version can be found right here. The latest version includes a number of bug fixes and additional game functionality.[break="changelog"]
    • Added custom "game skins" to the infoview for Call of Duty Multiplayer, Battlefield 2, and Unreal Tournament 2004. Even better, we've opened up the system so that you can make your own custom game skins if you can make javascript and html. Learn more about creating game skins.

    • Xfire In-Game now uses your keyboard settings as configured in Windows (for example, Dvorak keyboard and azerty keyboard users will get that key mapping).

    • Added support for joining Battlefield 2 servers (for Battlefield 2 version 1.01).

    • Added a new dialog for new installations that prompt you to add a friend.

    • Fixed a few spelling mistakes and typos in group chat.

    • Added Xfire In-Game support to:

      Direct3D 9 games

      - PainKiller, PainKiller Battle Out of Hell, Need for Speed Underground 2, Act of War: Direct Action, Tony Hawk Underground 2

      Direct3D 8 games

      - Knight Online, Operation Flashpoint, Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, Vietcong, Vietcong: Fist Alpha, Rise of Nations, Rise of Nations: Thrones & Patriots, Ghost Recon, Morrowind

      Direct3D 7 games

      - Aliens vs Predator 2

      OpenGL games

      - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

    • Status field in the infoview should now be updated properly if your friend has a custom status message.

    • Fixed an Xfire In-Game bug that would show messages originating from yourself.

    • Fixed a problem with Xfire In-Game showing a blank name if the sender's nick has certain non-ASCII characters.

    • Added an Xfire In-Game notification message if you're disconnected from the Xfire servers.

    • Reworked a lot of the internal structure of the main list view to reduce bugs.

    • Reworked a lot of the internal structure of the download server to scale better with the huge number of people downloading files.

    • New games supported: Mojo Master, Juiced, Zoo Tycoon, Need for Speed II SE, Need for Speed High Stakes, Need for Speed III, Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Half-Life 2 Capture the Flag, Half-Life 2 Substance, Half-Life 2 Gary's Mod, CounterStrike 2D, Continuum (yes, we read the boards), Mafia, Cold Fear, and COR.

Indeed it is. I like that they've added BF2 joining now that the patch has made it possible... and some source mods. Although they're mispelt Garry's Mod.

Although they didn't include Hidden: Source or SourceForts!

Since I can't see that section on the site anymore, and when it was there it hadn't been updated in a while, I'd assume not much.

It's still going on, there just hasn't been any update from either side. Could be that they're still awaiting the initial trial date.

I'm almost surprised Yahoo wasn't able to get a cease and desist order against Xfire to shut them down in the meantime, but maybe the fact that they weren't able to (assuming they tried) is a good sign.
