    Lombo Interview

Planet Half-Life has interviewed Doug Lombardi. You can download a video of the interview here or read this handy transcript. Here's one interesting Q&A:
Half-Life_84: I already asked Jess (cliffe) this question but I'll ask you as well, VIP maps are they going to be remade into CS Source?

Doug Lombardi: You know, Jess probably had a better answer for ya I don't know. I know there has been some experiments run to bring back the VIP Gameplay Style beyond that I'd have to refer to Jess.

**Jess had told me they may do it, but they would have to have a meeting about it and discuss how to make it happen.**
Meh, do people even like the VIP gameplay in 1.6?

If they put the VIP stuff into Source they better come with a damn good VIP model.

VIP was always the best part about CS, it demanded that a team use teamwork, instead of trampling off on their own DM style rampage on public servers. I made more friends organising teams on Oilrig than I did watching people camp with awps on aztec.....

                Oh no, a forum post!

I bet a lot of people would support escape maps being added to Source. We all know a lot of people want the shield in Source, too. The people that post on these things never shrug off an oppurtunity for Valve to add something stupid and novel to the game, because more must be better, right?! I don't think so, because VIP maps have always fallen flat. VIP maps never end up with teamplay, they end up with everyone running around killing each other (just like every other CS mode) and the VIP getting killed by one person with a desert eagle near the helicopter.

We all know that defusion maps are fun. Why can't we "petition" Valve to make new, creative de maps instead of re-hashing what wasn't fun from CS 1.6?

Many servers do play VIP maps properly. I'll admit that 95 percent don't though :P I used to dislike the map oilrig as it was never played properly, though now i have found a server which is always full of regulars and they play the map how it is made to be played. Its much more fun that way and has become one of my favourite CS1.6 maps...

When are we going to get a fix for:

                      T-Hitbox http://img160.echo.cx/img160/9163/hitboxes0lb.jpg

                      Hit Detection

                      First Shot Accuracy

                      Recoil -still needs work on.

Tweaking the guns, balance out the money on them

                      Hostages AI

                      More Models Choices

Defuse Bug - If a defuse kit lays on the bomb, the bomb isn`t defusable anymore

                      Missing gun model

that's not a hitbox problem, that's a model problem. The hitboxes are the same. Valve said a long time ago that we would have two models to choose from on each team, but for whatever reason they still haven't done that. I think they passed their own deadline for it months and months ago.

I'd love to play as_tundra again, and not having played my most hated map as_oilrig since Source came out, I wouldn't mind playing it now at all actually, hehe.

I like as maps, but I like es maps a lot more. I don't have source but I would really want those, especially ES as it doesn't require another model to make.

Even if valve doesn't make their own map, they should at least enable the VIP type map so other people can make them. Seriously. ES as well.

Pubs suck for teamplay no matter what the objective is, period end of sentence. I'd actually kinda like more objectives than even the four we already have, although I can't think of any.

You could always have some sort of 'steal the documents' scenario, or something. Guess that would spring up a lot of tents, though. Hmm.. Or maybe a bunch of objectives that must be destroyed (but you can do so with normal weapons) but that's sort of just playing on de maps. I've never actually played es, but it sounds interesting, is it really all that bad?

the VIP is a good idea that adds a bit more teamwork into cs (as much as you will get on a pub server) I always enjoyed the vip maps but i think they can do i bit more with the concept. If valve doesn't do it hopefully a mod team will.
