    DaveJ's Newest Dust

Update: Larger resolution screenshots are now at DaveJ's blog site.

The creator of the original CS maps dust, dust2, and cobble has just released a new map for Counter-Strike: Source. His latest, dubbed cs_dust_pcg, was made exclusively for the UK version of PC Gamer to accompany a series of tutorials the magazine has in their June and July issues. If you want to scope out a few of the screenshots from DaveJ's first official Counter-Strike: Source map, head on over to Gamesradar. There are currently no known public download links for the map.

Those screenshots show pretty much 2% of the map. I wonder why they even bothered posting the screenshot with the smoke grenade taking up half the screen.

Yeah, at least give an overview.

I look forward to his tutorials, hopefully they will become available on-line for people in the rest of the world.

Any word of this coming out in the US? It'd be nice to get a hold of some DaveJ tutorials.

It's so strange to look at those shots. Areas look so familiar yet strangely different... like you're drifting through a dream where the locations keep morphing.

looks pretty much like dust basic... Anyone seen it posted yet? I'm sure we will see this map in american rotations within a few days, or at least posted somewhere.

There's a couple better screenshots at DaveJ's blog not that I would read a blog, or be seen standing near an internet containing them.

That looks like dust2, but the title on CSN says Dust.

edit: or it could be a whole new map. Still looks an awful lot like dust2 though.

it looks less simple as dust 1 and 2, looks great though

edit: also, how come i submit news and then about 3/4 hours later zips steals my story so he gets all the praise!

I like how the pictures show so little of the map you can't tell if it's a remake of dust or something new...

Dust is actually my least favorite map and dust2 is only 'alright'. I don't mind the layout (okay well I really hate dust's layout), but the textures are just too...dusty.

Let's have a remake of dust set in the environment of, say, cs_backalley, or cs_docks, or de_predator...

Well i can guarantee that once the zip files reaches a computer harddrive, 24 hours later it will be all over the net. So it doesnt matter if this is exclusively released in the UK

Dave wrote a pretty interesting follow up article all about the response to the new map announcement.

                          Posted here: http://blog.johnsto.co.uk/?action=view&id=76

Notably he also executed the longest free standing sentence in the western world:
I love reading what people have been saying about the announcement. From the people who thought it was called Dust 3, to the people who then thought it was Dust 1 and 2 combined into a single map, to the people who then presumed that 1+2=3 hence the name, to those who think it was leaked weeks ago (who were really playing one of two custom Dust3 maps I had nothing to do with), to those who bought any of the non-UK editions of PC Gamer and got angry they couldn't find the map, to those who want me to be tossed in a blender, to those who mistakenly believe I am the creator of Cool Edit, to those who hate Dust, to those who love Dust, to those who want me to be more original and those who want me to continue the Dust series into triple figures for ever and ever and ever. Thanks to all of you. It's been very entertaining indeed - I plan to make a longer post with some edited highlights.

Hey, I was quite pleased with that line. It rolls of the tongue.

"...continue the Dust series into triple figures for ever and ever and ever..."
Hahaha! That's rather amusing. :) Admittedly, I remember my early days on 24/7 dust servers, so I can't mock too loudly.

How did you get mistook for the creator of an audio editing program, though? Curious how that happened... I thought like Adobe or somebody took them over anyway.
