    New CS:CZ Mission

Abalone has posted word on Ritualistic that has he has completed his latest CS:CZ Deleted Scenes mission: Threat Level Zero. Apparently, zero actually means one of the highest threat levels, which is fairly odd. Threat level 22 is very tranquil:

Grab Threat Level Zero right here, and be certain to check out Abalone's Urban Ruins for this legend's other great missions. Thanks for the submission, FLeK0!

Update: Apparently, the name is actually Threat Level Red, which isn't even a number at all. What an incredibly flawed piece of journalism!

New Mirror: There is a new mirror for Thread Level: Red right here!

Ooohh, it's about time. I'm glad CZ isn't completely forgotten about, I'm one of the suckers that bought it. Even though the missions were simple I still liked playing 'em.

Would be really sweet if Steam would update these maps automatically and officially for lazy people like me.

CZ is the best version out. Even though our server is Source I can admit that CZ was the most polished version. I bet you never even played it. And you definitely never played it online.

I think half the people who diss CZ and Source are just cheapass CS (free) players who downtalk the other versions to try and turn others away from those versions.

A lot of the features of CZ have been worked into normal CS now... and I have agree CZ was more polished.

Glad to see CZS getting some support. I wasn't a fan of the normal mode of CZ, but the deleted scenes were kind of fun, even if they are horribly disjointed and random at times. :) I'll be looking forward to playing these when I get a chance.

CZ online definitely is the most polished and bug-free of them all, but I play all versions of CS for the following reasons:
                      • I play CS with my best custom models installed for the classic look of the maps, and so I can play with my friends who only have CS.

                      • I play CZ online because less dickheads and cheaters play CZ.

                      • I play CZ alone with custom models I'm reviewing, because of the superior bot support that vastly simplifies the whole process.

                      • I play CS:S occasionally for the graphics / physics novelty, but really don't like it as much. That said, I DO thank Cliffe (despite everything else he's done) for ensuring that the feel of CS:S is very similar to that of CS in terms of controls.
Also, I'm reading "Threat Level Red" not "Threat Level Zero" for this map...

[EDIT] Dang I'm lucky... just downloaded the map, and when I went to check out his other stuff, it said "bandwidth exceeded" so the rest of you unlucky punks might have to find another source...

Nice to see a bit of maturity and positivity about this for a change. This to me shows that Valve and Ritualistic are still committed to providing satisfaction to all walks of CS. Nighthawk, I couldn't agree more with that post, if only more people weren't so elitist about what form of Counter-Strike you play, at the end of the day it all boils down to a game that you play and enjoy with your friends, it's nice to see someone with this outlook. :)

This mission is awesome, not too hard (except when you face the LAW), but the level design is cool, I really enjoyed it.

btw, here is a pack with all six custom DS missions, plus Abalone's loader map.

I might have to go and get a bargain bin copy of CZ just for the morbid curiosity of it.
