    Where Is eSports Heading?

Ryan Schumacher from The Amped Network weighs in with his thoughts and opinions regarding the direction and state of the current competitive gaming scene. Topics ranging from the Counter-Strike: Source and 1.6 debate, analysis of the different gaming leagues that have been conceived, and why the CPL World Tour, a global tournament featuring Painkiller, was a failed concept from square one have been touched upon.
Angel Munoz stated in the upcoming American Gamer that he doesn't know whether the mainstream media is going to armwrestle or dance with him to get eSports into people's living rooms. Well guess what? Mainstream media isn't the prime source of exposure for eSports. The greatest source of exposure lies in Amped eSports, TSN, Gotfrag, Radio ITG, Sogamed, ESReality and Fragbite. These are the companies that kids tell their friends about. And mark my words, a few of these companies are going to go mainstream and they are going to be the ones that push eSports to the next level. It's not going to come from ESPN or Fox News unless it's syndicated from us directly or one of us is purchased. Why? Because eSports is a different type of medium then traditional athletics. You can't take Peter Gammons and have him give analysis on eSports. It won't work and it's not practical for these companies. It's a new type of media that has been developed from a younger generation and it's going to be this generation that follows through and takes it to the top. Dance with us Angel, dance. We are working for the same cause.
For those of you who seem hesitant when it comes to the eSports field, I recommend you give this article a read regardless.

Man, you're not kiddin... I think the main reason CS has become so popular over the years is it's level of predictability. People get so good because they know everything that is going to happen, thats the main reason I fell off the Fragwagon called CS. Kudos to esports though, somebody has to make minimum wage playin CS I guess...

That's actually a really sad truth to an extent. I would like to see how top level teams play if given a previously unpracticed/unseen map. I guarantee you it'll never happen. Who wants to see that? Pfft.

As far as E-Sports go... that's fine and great, but I'm really tired of people getting really goddamn worked up about it.

I WANT TO SEE THAT!!!! or you could look at it from the perspective of football. each team has its own set of plays for each, just like in football. the game is predictable, but the team with the best plays and the best execution of those plays wins.

Heard of XML or even XHTML? Go home Asshole, you just got served.

CSS adds an element of doubt in the game, that's the way it should be, where's the skill in spamming a room built of reinforced concrete because you know the enemy is going to be there.
