    Steam Updates Released

A brand spanking new Steam update has just been released! I've got my client updated and you can too simply by restarting Steam!
      Counter-Strike: Source

    • Fixed an issue which was affecting player movement prediction

    • Stopped players on de_dust2 being able to hide inside of rocks

    • Added clipbrushes to de_train to prevent players from reaching certain areas

    • Enabled bots to navigate their way out of the carts in cs_compound
    [break="Read on for Source changes"]
      Source Engine (game server changes)

    • Added "stats" command to print the current cpu usage, players and net bandwidth in use

    • Fixed rcon responses to properly reflect request id's

    • Added rate-limiting to connectionless queries to prevent flooding (as in HL1, the rate-limiting is controlled via the cvars: sv_max_queries_sec, sv_max_queries_sec_global, and sv_max_queries_window)

    • Removed sv_allowlocalquery cvar

      Source SDK

    • Added Snow and rain materials

    • Added qc_eyes.exe

    • Made various improvements and fixes to .FGD files

    • Fixed an issue in Vrad which was causing visible artifacts when lighting very large objects/areas

    • Fixed an issue in Studiomdl which was allowing bad $modelnames to be used

    • Fixed the "cordon" texture used by Hammer
While you're waiting for the update to finish, please help me stop using all of these exclamation points!

    Steam Updates Released

Today, Valve released a few updates for the Half-Life 1 engine that both fix a number of engine exploits (engine hooks) and bring the old engine some Souce engine commands.
      HL1 Engine

    • Fixed several exploits triggered by malicious server operators (found by Stan Bubrouski)

    • As part of the next version of VAC, which is currently in testing, the Linux game server now must have GLIBC 2.3.2 or above installed

HL1 Engine Master Server Query Protocol

    • These changes bring the HL1 engine's querying protocol in line with that of the Source engine. If you connect to Steam enabled game servers using a third party tool, you may need to contact the vendor for an update.

    • Added a challenge number to A2S_PLAYER and A2S_RULES server queries.

    • Setting "sv_enableoldqueries" to 1 (currently the default) allows old style (no challenge/response) queries to work

    • Changed A2S_INFO server query to require the string "Source Engine Query" appended to the end of the query packet

    • Removed support for "info", "infostring", "details", "players" and "rules" queries, use A2S_INFO, A2S_PLAYERS and A2S_RULES instead
Restart your Steam clients to grab this update.

Fixed an issue which was affecting player movement prediction?

Possibly meaning fixed the issue regarding the occasional lagging hitboxes?

Because that was caused by prediction of player models

It doesn't matter if it was true or not... CSN can't just go around posting rumors from people who say they know people who know people who know a Valve employee's sister.

BTW, word on the street is that I haxxor!. Anywho.. about the patch. Did it fix the "gliding" issue (when you release the movement button your dude still moves a little forward)?

                            What Were They THINKING!?!?

Those spots they got rid of in train helped make the level more fun..

Most people knew how to get to them, and knew where to hide from them..

Every single update they came out with, I've never had an issue with..

I dont think valve has anyway to redeem themselves unless VAC2 comes out soon..

i was just being an ass btw....

TBH tho I don't believe anything posted until its actually released. Even if it is posted by valve themselves...since they are known to be liars :P . They are lucky their game is popular, cuz they suck at everything else.
