Little detail, but simply getting the Blue Shift icon to actually be blue made me really happy. Sometimes the little things matter, and it's nice to see some attention to detail here. :) On an odd side-note, Blue Shift flickers like it's trying to give me seizures while it's on the menu screen for some reason, but after starting a game it's just fine. Dunno if it's something screwy with a video loop, or something else going on, but the whole screen gets really screwy/distorted/blackout while it's doing that.FLeK0 wrote..
Well, they said they were having some technical difficulties with it, so I was assuming this was a temp-fix solution for the meantime, and hopefully an options setting will be implemented in the future. While they're at it, maybe they could do the same thing and let you toggle whether to use CZ models in CS1.6 for those of us who own CZ. It'd be nice, anyway.
Is enabling/disabling random content by clicking on a link in explorer user friendly ? It works, but there should be at least a menu for this in Steam. Also, this feature should be added for CZ owners to get more high-def stuff to 1.6 (or remove it).acc_int wrote..
Honestly, if they did them just like HL1 source, I wouldn't be interested. If they updated all the textures with high-res versions at least, though, then you'd have me interested. Even more so if they added normal mapping, more shaders in general (HDR maybe?), and had more real physics objects.
Now, if only Blue Shift source and Opposing forces source will come out...Sava wrote..
So DoD Source is a "good" game, and you know this how? When did you get the opportunity to playtest it? In other words, you're making crap up off of a few screenshots, and it's meaningless.

Anyway, good update, glad it came, even if some areas are still a little rough around the edges (like the high-def activation/download stuff). At least some sort of confirmation that you've activated or deactivated it would be nice, heh. :)Comment

Come on, all he means is they should be spending their time on CS:S and DoD:S instead of wasting this time on little expansions. DoD is very popular and thus it should be more of a priority than Op4:S or BS:S. Unless you have some sort of bias against DoD.. Then I should eat your first born child.Comment

I don't have any bias against DoD, certainly, and look forward to seeing DoD:S come out. That said... none of us know if it will be good or not until we actually play it.
As far as wasting time on little expansions, I haven't heard of any work being done on a Op4:S or BS:S, so the idea of time being wasted on those projects is baseless. Instead, he was basically implying that the time spent on getting the original Blue Shift released and working (along with the high-def pack for all three games) was a waste of time.
Anyway, in the meantime since we actually have Blue Shift released now, here are some random easter eggs and such to look for if the game is passing far too quickly for you.
One last note... anybody know for sure whether Blue Shift's shortness was directly related to it originally being intended for the Dreamcast release (which never happened) or not?Comment

NightHawk:
My line of reasoning is quite simple.
CS is good.
CS:Source is good.
Dod is good.
I think it's reasonable to assume DoD:Source will be good.
Valve didn't drastically change gameplay. It's just a new engine and updated graphics. Why wouldn't it be good?
It's not as if DoD:Source is a completely unknown and new game. And it's not as if we don't already have frames of reference for it.
My retort is quite simple. I'm not making "crap up" off a few "screenshots" and it's not "meaningless". Your comments don't make much sense.
But please don't take offense. I don't mean that as a flame or anything. It just seems as if you didn't bother to think before posting. But that's quite common on the intraweb.
And I don't know how Valve budgets it's time. But in my humble opinion, even 5 work-minutes spent on Blue-Shift that could have been spent on DoD:Source or new stuff for CS:Source is time wasted.Comment

I think most of us were thinking the same for CS:S; Same gameplay with updated graphics. But CS:S wasn't at it's best when it released. It was missing many player models and official maps. And it also had many bugs to fix up. So to assume DoD:S will be good without even trying it is stupid.

P.S. I' am not trying to start an arguement or anything. Please don't take my opinion too seriously.Comment
