i wish valve hires a single messianic figure who knows all there is to know about hacking and able to find counter measures for other's hacks (such as hacks in games)... lol
joolz once offered to help valve defeat hackers and valve never responded

in other news, whoopee, vac2. i don't even know what's different becaue i haven't read the article but it sure sounds cool.

This is second hand gossip containing useless or blatantly false information. Of course Vac2 is going to use new cheat detections, did anyone think it was gonna be a re-release of Vac1? And everyone who's seen the steampowered forums knows that Valve specifically instructs people NOT to submit demos, screencaps and steamids and that they will NOT do anything with them. Plus, the element of suprise is a stated part of VAC2's release strategy, so this "employee" is undermining that. I wish to the heavens that he's right about the release date, but it should take more than the ability to post a news item on Counter Hack for people to take this guy at his word.

I agree with xeno, there's too much heresay in this story. CSN should avoid this kind of tabloid headlining. . .

this site needs tabloid headling since it's basically a dying site, it's turning the way of the Domain of games site ;-p

Hard to suprise people when there is a loading bar for VAC. You see it coming and have time to cancel out. The only suprises they do are the updates. This is where they make a huge impact.

weird i swear it said on the steam site that you CANNOT manually report hackers, no matter what proof you have.

I'm questioning the integrity of this news article. I wouldn't expect VAC2 next week unless I hear an actual official announcement. "Friend that works at Valve" doesn't cut it for me. Besides, VALVe does have a somewhat strange history with them not meeting release dates (not that an actual release date was given here).

Probably too late for 1.6, and cheating in CS:S will get boring fast for cheaters no matter if VAC comes or not.
                      If only that were true...

If you happen to get the STEAM ID of the hacker you could email steam and they will look into the problem and with success ban the account.
How does this work? Because I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of non hackers gettin accused, and steam getting a lot of "omfgz h4x0r sh1t" e-mails.

it's a LIE, valvE is not banning anyone this way, only by vac's automatic-9month-old detections.
