    Train Comparison

Amped eSports continues their excellent series of map comparisons where the updated Counter-Strike: Source map ports are matched up against their original 1.6 counterparts. This time, Amped compares the recently ported de_train.
    Alleyway

A boring hallway with 2 boxes you say? No longer, my friend. The source version of train has a bunch of areas that you are not actually able to enter, but add a lot of depth and detail. The area surrounding alley has some fun examples of this, along with some nice gameplay improvements. As noted in the last thumbnail, the spawn points have been changed so that the CT-T visual contact point is about 3 seconds earlier, making for a much more effective terrorist rush on Alley. But the CT's have been given a bevy of interesting new spots to await the rush.
Helpful screenshots are coupled with the usual informative analysis as you'd come to expect. Click here to read this fine map comparison between the new and old de_train!

Why do people need to read articles that explain how the NEW train is different from the OLD train? Just play the game... you learn AND have fun at the same time! :O

          Amazing.

I hate how they tease you with rooms that you can't enter. They should have let you enter those rooms and use them.

As I see it, this new train, along with maps like compound, is too "busy" for counter-strike's sake. It takes away from the basic gameplay by adding all these fps downers.

Because the Amped News writers are bored

The new train looks great, it feels very closed in though, if u compare it to 1.6 train everything just feels way too closed in and smaller. Still, it's cool.

The Source de_train port is the best map port thus far, and is great as de_train is one of my favorite maps. The main layout has been kept intact without any major changes tailored for novice players (such as the case with de_dust2 and the lovely redesigned "Middle" area, butchered Bombsite B, and other changes), however, aesthetically speaking, everything has been revamped for the better, but not overdone.

No, you shouldn't be allowed to enter because they were trying to keep the layout the same. Adding new rooms would just mess it up. If you're getting excited over empty space, bash your head into your fist now.
