CAL also tried to get us to play de_comrade, and that map is nowhere near decent for competitive play.
since CAL I is goin source next season, thats makes me think its ready for competitive play.
any update is a good update in my opinion.
Source needs a ton of work to be ready for league play.Comment

CS:S needs a ton of work? Yes it's true that there are still a couple of things that need to be worked out such as the "laggy" feeling when you brush by another player. However I am so sorry to bust your bubble, the source engine will not run as fast as 1.6 on your 800mhz eMachines. Get a job, your hardware is what's lacking here. Even those with something like 3ghz, 1gb ram, radeon 9800 pro - will probably still have to run at 800x600 to get a good smooth ~80 fps. I believe its time for most everyone to upgrade, gaming has stepped up a notch. Soon as you get some blazing hardware, you'll run a source-based game, be running 100fps+ in high resolution, and say "what glitches?".Comment

Your not to bright. I have a P4 2.5 GHZ, Gig of ram and a 6600 GT and run smooth as could be on 100FPS at 1024x768 with max settings for the most part. That isn't the problem smart guy its the hitbox bugs and shots not registering. CSS is a faster paced game than CZ/1.6, Its going to take awhile to used to it.
